I have downloaded some books to my computer,but they are not transferring to my Sony e reader - please help, I'm desperate!

First configure the reader as a Mass Storage device from the settings. Then it would appaer as an additional drive in MY Computer. After this you can use this driver like any other driver for select, copy paste purposes.

You will need to replace the battery. Even though they tell us the technology advances means batteries have no memory anymore, they still do.

If you don't allow the battery to completely discharge on a weekly or biweekly basis, they will go dead quicker.

There are two types of Reset are present
1)Soft Reset.
2)Hard Reset.

Just pressing the Reset button using compass or needle will just do soft reset,It is not more effective in this case.You have to go for Hard Reset.

Hard Reset:All the data's will be lost once you do this.but will solve your problem.
Hold Reset for 5-10 seconds.
Flip power switch quickly 3 times. If this doesn't work.
check the light next to the power switch. If it is flashing yellow, do the same steps. It might take up to two to four tries.

Reset the Reader by pressing the RESET button (bottom edge)
with a small pin or clip, then slide the POWER switch to turn on the Reader.

Did you try the reset button at the back?
Resetting does some re-initialization of some non volatile memory.This will solve it.

Ok at boot up press F8, when the Menu comes up, choose Safe Mode, but this time instead of going to the desktop, choose System Restore, follow instructions, and when the Calender type window comes up, simply choose a time BEFORE, the time it went faulty. This should completely restore you to working again. As long as there are NO other problems.

This should get you back to where you were before you installed the AV. Now when back, to all working, then try to connect.

yes just press the bookmark symbol again and it will take it off.

Yes, all you do is press the bookmark button again then the bookmark symbol will disappear from the top.

Check the USB setting or connectivity and probably set it to ask or prompt you when you connect to any device.

Close Reader Library
Download Adobe Digital Edition ( if it asks you to enter adobe ID, enter the same as the reader library, email and password, if it says invalid or that does not exist, create one on adobe.com for free using the same email and password as the reader store)
Reopen Reader Library

That should work round the error.

When the Reader Library Software will say that your reader is authorized to a different user, you will also get an option to "Re-Authorize" it. Just click on the "Reauthorize" option to get this issue resolved..

If attempting to connect to the Reader (eBook) Store by Sony on a computer that is connected to a network through a proxy server, contact your IT support specialist for assistance in configuring your proxy server settings to allow access to the Reader (eBook) Store by Sony. It is not possible to adjust these settings through the Reader (eBook) Library software.

1. Check your security software settings. Some security settings may not allow the Reader (eBook) Library software to access the Reader (eBook) Store and will need to be adjusted to allow access to the Reader (eBook) Store. Determine if the security software is causing the issue.NOTE: Various different Internet security or parental control software may block access to the Reader (eBook) Store. Some software may request a password to unblock the store site. If a password is requested, enter your password to access the site.
   
   1. Temporarily disable the security software.
   2. From in the Internet Explorer software, on the menu bar, click Tools , then click Internet Options .
   3. In the Internet Options window, click the General tab
   4. In the Browsing History section, click the Delete... button.
   5. In the Delete Browsing History window, in the Temporary Internet Files area, click the Delete files... button.
   6. In the Delete Files window, click Yes .
   7. Attempt to access the Reader (eBook) Store Web site through the Reader (eBook) Library software.If you are able to access the store with the security software disabled, the security settings will need to be adjusted. If you are still unable to access the store, continue with troubleshooting.
      
   8. Re-enable the security software.
   NOTE: The steps to adjust the security software settings varies by manufacturer. Consult the help files of the software or contact the manufacturer for assistance. A list of contact information for some popular security software.
   

If you lost the code to unlock the Reader, you need to contact the Customer Relations Division at 1-800-222-7669. They will be able to provide you the default password.
