Also, the DO NOT DISCONNECT message is normal operation while the reader is connected, to have this message disappear you may need to safely remove hardware on the system tray

The message that you are not allow to copy the book, you may need to check if you are using the same ebookstore account, if you are using the same, follow these steps:

1. Connect the reader
2. Sign in to you ebook account
3. Click on my account link at the top
4. Click Manage Devices link
5. You will get a message that a new device is detected, click on authorize
6. You will be asked to reauthorize the device

Hi jmjohnson198!

1. Connect the reader to the AC Adapter (If available). If not, then connect the Reader via USB to the computer

2. Hit the reset button for 3 seconds.

3. The red steady light should come on, if not, try the reset again while the unit is connected

4. Allow the reader to charge for 40 Minutes (on PC make sure the computer does not go into sleep mode.

5. Disconnect the reader and see if operational.

You can try to reset the unit and recharge it again.

This operation will not affect your ebooks:

1. Leave the unit connected to the adapter
2. Hit the reset at the bottom for 3 seconds
3. Slide the power switch (the screen will blink and boot up)

If after that the proble still persist, you can try a hard reset. NOTE: This will set the reader to factory settings and will delete all you content.

1. With the unit connected to the AC Adapter, hit the reset button at the bottom for 3 seconds
2. Slide the power switch
3. While the reader shows "Opening Book" press and hold the "0" button and the directional down arrow at the same time, until " Reset All" appears on the screen
4. Press number 5 to confirm and turn the unit back on
5. Try recharge unit and disconnect it and see if that works

If these steps do not work, then contact Sony to get the unit repaired.

Hi!

Probably a corrupted book that will not transfer, I recommend you to check book by book to see if ther is one that is not displaying on the Sony Software, also you can disable sync, here's a link how to do it:

Hi!

You can try a hard reset to start all over, or probably a book inside your reader may be corrupted. You can try a hard reset:

Note: All data will be deleted and you will need to transfer all your content, if from Sony, do not worry you can redownload the books at no cost again.

1. Make sure the reader is at least half charge (If you are not sure, connect it to the computer for 15 minutes and make sure there is a redlight at the top)
2. With the reader disconnected from the PC, hit the reset button at the bottom of the reader for 5 seconds
3. Release the reset, and slide the power swith, the scree will blink and will shot "Opening Book..."
4. While the reader shows "Opening Book" press and hold the zero "0" and the down arrow until "RESET ALL" appears on the screen
5. You will be prompted to press the number five "5" to agree
6. Press the number 5 and the reader will go blank, turn the reader on again and this time allow it to load
7. Transfer you books again

Hi!

You can try to delete the books and redownload them again, probably something got corrupted.

To Redownload books:

1. Open the Reader Library
2. Sign In to you account
3. Click "My Account" link at the top of the page
4. Scroll down and click the link that says "Redownload purchased Items"
5. Click the download button
6. Transfer your books again

Probably sometinng got corrupted on the book, you can try a soft reset to see if the issue is fixed, if not you will need to do a hard reset, this will set the reader to factory settings and remove all data:

Note: Make sure the reader is at least half charged.

To Soft Reset:
1. With the reader disconnected from the computer, hit the reset at the bottom of the reader for 3 secons
2. Slide the power switch, the screen will blink and will show "Opening Book". Allow the reader to load and see if the problem still persist

To Hard Reset:
1. Hit the reset button at the bottom of the reader for 3 secons
2. While the reader shows "Opening Book" press and hold at the same time the number zero "0" and the down arrow on the directional buttons until "Reset All" appears
3. The reader wil laskyou to press the number 5 to proceed
4 Reader will go off, now you can turn it on and allow it to load this time.

Is this an error coming up on the Reader Software or the Reader itself?

If is from the reader you may try to reset it:

1. Disconnect the reader from the computer
2. Hit the reset button at the bottom of the reader for 3 seconds
3. Slide the power switch
4. Screen will blink and will show "Opening Book", allow the reader to load

Hi,

Probably the its a frozen reader issue, try these steps:

1. Connect the reader to the computer
2. While the reader is connected hit the reset button for 3 seconds, and make sure the redlight comes on.
3. Leave the reader connected for 15 minutes, then disconnect it and see if operational now
4. If the reader still not turning on, try the reset and slide the power switch.

If the issue still persist you may need to delete the registration folders for the reader and then reinstall again. I'm not sure which OS you have in your PC but you can find a way to delete these folders on the forum below:

2. Disconnect the reader and at the bottom of the unit there is a reset button, hit the reset for 3 seconds.

3. Slide the power switch

2. Then press the number 7
3. Press number 5
4. Now with the arrow keys select English and then select OK

What OS are you running? Try to restoring your computer to the date before you installed the new version of the reader library.

If you have Windows 7, set eBook Library to Vista compatibility to get it to run.

Hi.

You aren't doing anything wrong. When it is like that either battery, charger, or pocket reader DC connection is defective.

The charger can be tested using a volt meter or a multi-meter to check DC voltage. The power value must differ of no more than half volt from specifications. Here a replacement charger: AA Battery Pack Charger.

The most common failure giving the problem that you describe is defective rechargeable batteries. If the Reader sees the charger, the unit works with new fresh batteries, and the charger has voltage, then the problem are usually the rechargeable batteries. Replace them.

If the unit does not charge with new rechargeable batteries and a good charger, then the connector on the reader, or the internal power circuit is broken. In that case the Reader must be disassembled and fixed. If this is the case call first Sony support number listed in the manual.
