I think its more likely that the check valve is leaking pressure back into the well

I just went out and did mine. My button didn't depress at all at first. While trying to push the button in, jiggle the discharge both ways; the button will move in and the housing rotates very easily.

Hi,
Take some Vaseline or other petroleum jelly and grease the new ring and the threads so that you can get the basket tight...
Make sure also that the pool has enough water in it so that you are not pulling air to the pump...
It is often a good idea to let the basket a bit loose till the water forces all of the air out of it and then tighten it before starting the pump...

Once all of the air is out and the pump is primed again you should not hear the gurgling...

If you are continuing to get air then the new gasket may not be the correct size for your pump...

THERE ARE THREE SCREWS 1 AT ONE O-CLOCK(GOUND) THE OTHER 2 AT THREE O-CLOCK.ARE THE LINES(POWER). THE CAN GO ETHER WAY ! Hi, Have you checked the filter(s). If they are clogged with de-bree you can not get proper water flow. Clean out and replace filter

NOT ALL THE TIME THERE IS TWO TYPES, ONE HAS BRASS THREADS THE OTHER IS ALL PLASTIC, WHEN YOU UN-SCREW (LEFT) HOLD SHAFT AT BACK OF MOTOR WITH 7/16 WRENCH, PLASTIC IMPELLERS ON THE SMALL MOTORS CAN BE REUSED . BUT ON A 1.5 AND BIGGER.IT'S A MUST TO REPLACE IT WITH THE BRASS THREADED IMPELLER. I THINK YOU WILL FIND THAT THE MOTORS ROTOR IS LOCKED UP AND WILL NEED TO BE REBUILT, YOU MAY BE ABLE TO ROCK THE IMPELLER, AND WITH SOME LUCK FREE THE MOTOR.. ya sure can, it will need a new or rebuilt motor, i want you to search for your local pool pump motor repair guy and have him replace, repair the motor click here to see HOW TO TAKE YOUR PUMP APART. its best off to let a expert do the swap, you can install the motor portion back into the plumbing part of the pump and save BIG $$$. remember to ask your rebuilder what you can do to prevent and extend the life of your motor
