contacting Rival to see if they sell a replacement motor. Nothing is listed on their parts and accessories page. It may just be more economical to buy a new ice cream maker, though. Most of the cost is likely to be in the motor, and even if the motor's available it may be just a few dollars more for a whole new appliance. Amazon.com lists two almost identical models by a company called Maxi-Matic, a
6-quart model for $69.99 and a
4-quart for about $10 less. You might be better off just buying new and get a warranty with it.
Sadly, almost every small appliance now is a throw-away item.

Actually you will be able to get Rival ice cream maker replacement parts from Sears. You may call them at 1-800-252-1698 . Just get your model number ready when you call. You may also want to try if they can provide you parts for Sterling ice cream maker.

These rust spots ... outside or inside? If outside ... use the can as is.

NOT FREEZING PROPERLY
If your outer bucket is leaking down the liquid brine solution it won't freeze properly. The rival buckets are bad about leaking. You might try pre-conditioning the outer bucket before making your attempt at freezing. Just fill the bucket to the weep hole with water and let it sit for about half an hour, then pour out all but about 4 inches of it and start adding ice and salt.
