Words projected on the screen are very dim if you have an lcd projector, it may be dirty or the fly-eye lens is fried. if you have a dlp projector, the colorwheel is dirty.
the powerlite S1 projector has a green tint. check the fly eye lens and then Lamp unit. Service and check the LCD panels.
the image is dull check the fly-eye (diffuser) lens. there are 2 next to the lamp housing. the second one usually fries and needs replacing. while you're in there, clean it out.
