Brake light and ABS light is on and the speedometer, odometer and tripometer are inoperable

    I've just had the same problem - brake, ABS, check engine lights all came on at the same time the speedometer stopped working. Installed a new speed sensor at the transmission & that took care of the check engine light temporarily, but didn't fix the speedometer. Looking for other solutions...any suggestions?

    I've just had the same problem - Last week brake, ABS, check engine lights all came on at the same time the speedometer stopped working.

    I check the OBDII Code and had P0501. Installed a new speed sensor at the transmission which did not fix prob, change the speed sensor in rear axle I cleared the OBDII & that took care of the check engine light temporarily, but didn't fix the speedometer. HELP!!

    Thanks Chad for the tip. However, I failed to mention that my 98 Dakota is a 4WD and all the research I've done indicates that your solution will work for a 2WD. Any thoughts?

    I have the exact same problem only i own a 99 dodge 1500.

    First the brake and ABS, lights came on at the same time. Then several months later the check engine light came on. Later on my speedometer quit working at slower speeds and is getting worst. Now, it only starts working at 70 mph and above.

    ABS and brake light came on so i changed out a bad rear brake cyclinder passenger side and the speedometer is registering when i get up to 30 mph or more Please help me to sovle this

Rear speed sensor on top of the rear diff had same problem, changed it for 30 bucks and half an hour and was back on the road in no time.

Replace the left front wheel hub assy. with 4 wheel abs. The spedometer works off of the left front wheel sensor. It will fix the abs/brake light and the spedometer will start working

Speedometer and Odometer quick working. How do I
Follow the speedometer cable from the firewall, down to the transmission. It should bolt in the transmission, remove the cable from the transmission, and turn the gear to check to see if speedometer is working, if not, it's most like the speedometer head unit.

My speedometer quit but the odometer still works (1998 F150) can you solve this
Usually it's the opposite. The speedometer works and the odomater and trip meter go inop. Most likely the speedometer assembly is bad. If the odometer is working you have a signal from the gray and black wire .
