The fuel pump will come on then, shut off when the key is placed in the ON position, this is normal. What is not normal, is when the key is turned to start the engine, and the fuel pump does not run when the engine is running at the same time. The initial power up you hear is a prime function that all vehicles have.
ledsled378, thank you for the info you shared about the fuel pump on my 89 Olds Regency. However, I am trying to discover what is causing my car to shut off. The last time this happens my fuel pump was replaced. Could you tell me if there is a sensor or module that could be causing this to happen? Unfortunately, this is my only means of transportation to work.....(sad, eh?) Thank you so much for your input, it is deeply appreciated!
Liz
I had not been given much detail about the vehicle, and based my solution starting point on the info provided. Total mileage? Recent maintenance...spark plugs, wires, etc...? Check engine light on? Good spark?
The some what rating does not help either. You don't have to rate.
