Check owners manual for fuse locations and check them first. Some vehicles have seperate trailer light fuses.

mine was the same way the fuse was pulled out. the fuse box is on passenger side of consoul it is the frist fuse on top to left.

7way- black is 12volt (power), brown, running lights, yellow is left turn signal and stop light, green is right turn signal and stop light, white is ground, blue is brakes, and orange is aux power (can be back up lights, if trailer equipped w/ them). 6way is the same, minus orange wire. I have run into some variations to the above color codes (brown, yellow and green only-sometimes these 3 are different than stated, but only mixed as that group, as to what they control- example would be green is running lights, brown and yellow are turn signal and stop lights, the others should be as stated), if you have any trouble with things not working properly, it may be due to these variations, although the above are pretty standard. If you have an ohm meter you can check as you go (check for power at black wire- should be constant 12v, turn on turn signal and check for power-it will fluctuate from approx. 12 volts to 0 volts as the signal power pulses in the wire) hit the brakes, blue wire should show power, etc. Let me know if you need more help as you go.

Six wire plugs:

Horse, stock or utility trailers:
White = Ground - GD
Yellow = Left turn/Brake -LT
Green = Right turn Brake -RT
Brown = Tail and clearance lights - TM
Red or Black (not both) = Battery, aux power - A
Blue = Electric Brakes - S

Recreational Vehicle: (color, use, plug mark)
White = Ground - GD
Yellow = Not used -
Brown = Right turn Brake - RT
Green = Tail and clearance lights -TM
Black = Battery, aux power - A
Red = Left turn/Brake - LT
Blue = Electric Brakes - S

Four wire plugs:
White = Ground
Yellow = Left turn/Brake
Green = Right turn Brake
Brown = Tail and clearance lights

Ground should be 10ga.
Others 14 ga

Trailer - brake lights don't work on one trailer - work fine on other....

You have to many bulbs running for the size wire you can get into a 7 pin plug. You will have to up grade to a heavy vehicle plug which is around 2" in dia.. Next the stop light draw 25 watts each so if you have 3 trailers that ia 6 x25 watts x12 volts will indicate how many amps you are pulling when the brakes come on. Next you can change the wiring so that each bulb is connected in parallel not series that is the first 2 lights have one wire the 2nd bulbs will have a different wire out of the same pin and so on for the rest of the trailers. So what you will have will be say for 3 trailers the trailer plug will have wire to the first trailer and out of the same pin will be another wire that will go to the socket for the second trailer and so on That way the wire carrying the load will be the vehicle wire that you should have relayed any way. So you have a big current wire to the relay that is connected to the power pin of the socket. The relay is activated by the stop light wire to earth. This closes the relay and the heavy wire conducts current directly to the stop light pin of the first trailer and is piggy backed to the second socket and so on.. IN the end you will have only 2 bulbs working on each wire and not a multiple of bulbs drawing current on the one wire

Columns are: Color, Function, Mark on the plug.

1998 Ford Explorer has factory trailer wiring ... won't light the left turn signal light on trailer or left brake light ... bulbs are good, all lights work when vehicle lights are on except the left...

Use this as a guide and a 12 volt test light, or multimeter to see if power at proper terminal from truck. If power there, then connection at trailer plug, or wiring from there to tail lights on trailer is faulty.

1997 Ford F250HD 7.3 PSD. When i plug in my trailer lights the running lights on the trailer are always on.

The power lead on truck or trailer are in wrong spot. So it is feeding power to your parking lights all the time. Open plug on trailer and move wire one turn counter clockwise.

On my 1990 Ford Bronco the trailer harness adapter does not work when plugged into the factory wiring at the rear bumper. I have tried a new adapter and the result is the same. I have checked for voltage...

I assume you are getting power at the plug. If not, first check to be sure you have a good ground at the plug harness. White wire. You can ground it to the frame. If so, check the ground on the trailer. With 2 wire lights you can ground to the frame. 3 wire lights require a ground to each light. Also try http://www.etrailer.com/faq-wiring.aspx. On my old 1990 ford truck it had fused links at the harness under the hood next to the battery.

Trailer signal and brake lights not working at back of trk

THERE SHOULD BE SEPARATE FUSES FOR THE TRAILER WIRES. HAVE YOU LOOKED UNDER THE STEERING COLUMN FOR THEM? IF YOU HAVE AND THEY CHECK OUT OKAY, THEN CHECK THE WHITE WIRE ON THE TRAILER PLUG, IT IS THE ONE THAT IS EXPOSED ON THE TRAILER PLUG. IT IS THE GROUND FOR ALL THE TRAILER LIGHTS AND THE MOST IMPORTANT OF ALL THE WIRES. SEE IF THE TRAILER HAS A GOOD CLEAN GROUND AS WELL(WHITE WIRE). HOPE THIS HELPS. PLEASE KEEP ME POSTED.
