1998 corvette will not start says reduced power

If the security light is blinking it will not start. The security system needs to be reset. You will have to have a fully charged battery to reset the system. With a full charged battery turn the ignition forward until the warning lights come on and leave the key in the on position for 15min. Turn key off and wait 10sec. then try and start. You may have to perform this procedure a couple of times, however, it is usually successful the first try. The reduced power light can be set by a low voltage/poor charge battery

Car won't start? Starts but dies immediately?

Today, I had a young lady pull into my gas stations, a local, and regular who comes in everyday on her way to school. Never has she had a problem with her Jeep Cherokee.

She went to start it and all we heard was, click...click...click..several times over. We popped the hood and I took a gander - her battery terminals were a bit corroded, not too bad, so I happened to have a battery in the back of my car (brand new); I tried to jump start her from it, but it wasn't enough - her jeep would start then die. So, I hooked my car up to it - still wouldn't start - so, I took her battery out, and put in my new one.

Bam, it started right up and stayed running - however, I am positive this was not the issue alone - I think she may need a new fuel filter as well - so, I let her go with my new battery until she gets a new one. I assured her it wasn't her alternator, as I disconnected both terminals and the Jeep stayed running - Yes, the engine runs on the charge of the alternator - the battery is charged by the alternator - her battery was bad - but due to the fact she has a factory alarm that, for some reason goes off everytime she open her door, then she has to unlock her back hatch to dis-engage it.

Then she can start her Jeep.

So, use this as a resource if you experience such an incident with your car, truck, mini-van etc.

I have a 1993 Jeep Grand cherokee laredo with the 4.0 its starts for only a few seconds and dies changed the fuel pump and fuel filter and the sercurity light doesn't come on im stumped any help ?

Check the crankshaft position sensor, i have repaired 3 Jeeps (after the owner spent a lot of time and money replacing fuel pumps,TPS, and many other items) then got frustrated, brought it to me and within an hour it was running fine with a new CPS

Sercurity system will not shut off

disconnect the positive terminal on battery, have some one inside and hold the key on like your starting it. then have the other person put the positive terminal on while the other is cranking, and that will bypass and deactivate the alarm

Turn over no start

On MY jeep, the Security Lockdown system kicked in, and it would not start at all, until I put the key in the door, and locked and unlocked it 5 times. I felt stupid, but it worked! A guy at the dealership told me, b/c he owed me a favor. He said usually it is a wrecker call!
