My low coolant light is on and there is no way to get it off. The radiator problem is being taken care of however this light is still on. We hooked it up to a computer and that registers that nothing is wrong with the car, when clearly there was. Is there any way I can go through the radio to do this?

When filling this cooling system you need to open the air bleeds on motor to let all the trapped air out and the coolant to be properly filled these are 2 brass plugs with bleed holes in them they are 7 mm brass plugs 1 located on the thermastat housing and the other on passenger side of engine on a pipe facing upward you start the engine and open these bleeders about 1 turn or so and wait for a STEADY flow of coolant out of these thenmake sure resivoir for coolant is full,I hope this helps

2004 Kia low heat at idle hiway speeds ok

1) Coolant tank may show full but radiator is low in coolant...Cold engine...remove cap...inspect coolant level in radiator...fill if necessary,,,
2) If #1 is OK, the coolant system has an air blockage...With cold engine remove cap...Start engine...Heat control on high... when thermostat opens coolant AND air will escape from radiator...there will be coolant loss...Wait until all air escapes then carefully replace cap...When engine cools remove cap and top off coolant if required.....saailer

Why is my1997 chevy lumina low coolant light is on and the radiator is full of coolant ?

In most newer chevys, the coolant reservoir is part of the pressurized system. Rather than just holding overflow coolant and relying on the radiator pressure cap to draw from and expel to the reservoir, it is an active part of the cooling system. On these systems, there is a coolant level switch in the reservoir. This will activate if the level in the reservoir gets below a certain point. So it is possible to have a full radiator and still get a low coolant light. Be advised that as the reservoir ages and get stained, it is not uncommon for the low coolant sensor to give false indications of low coolant.

LOW COOLANT LIGHT

Just had a go-round with same problem in an 87 Cavalier. Had to take off radiator cap, add coolant, squeeze bottom radiator hose. After no more bubbles, add coolant, squeeze top radiator hose. Squeeze bottom again. Add coolant as needed. The air was because it was run low when the radiator cap gasket failed and coolant boiled out. Never got the overheat notice on digital dash or idiot light. Make sure you have a new radiator cap.

Coolant is Low but there is no leak.

Since the cooling system is sealed, if there is no external leak, the engine may be burning coolant out the tail pipe due to a leaking head gasket.
You may want to try a different shop for a second opinion.

Chevy 2000,Venture Low Coolant lights up while driving. Twice over heated Red light, temp gauge went all the way up. I pull over and saw the coolant is not boiling hot but coolant over flowing. No steam...

YOU NEED TO ADD MORE COOLANT IN THE OVER FLOW JUG. YOUR OVER FLOW JUG IS WHERE YOU POUR COOLANT TO FILL UP RADIATOR. KEEP POURING COOLANT DOWN THE OVER FLOW JUG UNTIL COOLANT STOP DROPPING AND STAY AT THE FULL COLD MARK.KEEP EYE ON OVER FLOW JUG DONT LET RUN DRY BECAUSE AIR WILL BE PULLED IN THE COOLANT SYSTEM CAUSE A LOT OF ENGINE OVER HEATING PROBLEMS.

Low coolant light stays on and coolant level is not low

Many times vehicles have a coolant sensor mounted on the radiator that goes bad allowing the low coolant light to stay lit changing this sensor usually takes care of the light also make sure the wires running to the sensor are not shorted or broke.

Just got an oil change and the oil change light is still coming on (it was doing this before I got it changed and the time before that) but now, the low coolant light is on as well...they checked all the...

To clear the oil change light, turn the key to on,and press the accelerator pedal three times real slow within 5 seconds, this will clear the light, now on the coolant light sensor, low coolant, remove the sensor on the passengers side of the radiator,it has a wire clip,so use a small pick, with a slight hook on it,the sensor is square, and flat,You will see,it needs to be cleaned out, most likely with air pressure, then put the clip back on the sensor, and it will snap back on,refill the radiator. If this was at all helpful, please rate,I have a 2000 montana myself,

Low Coolant light comes on, popped hood and checked it, its full but water/coolant is dirty pretty much brown water. what can cause this?

You're mixing coolant and oil. Probably lower intake gasket leak if you're not running hot, otherwise could be head gasket or other issue. Occasionally a cracked core in the radiator will do this too.

You need to have it taken care of, if you have oil in the coolant, you've also got coolant in your oil, the engine will begin to eat itself...

Low coolant light always on

Low coolant means just that, find out if the system is really low or the light is receiving a false signal from the low coolant sensor, just check the level in the coolant recovery tank and the make sure the radiator tank is full, if you are low on coolant then check out why, a leak is probable, most likely a water pump or hose related issue, and no a bad thermostat will not in itself turn on the low coolant light unless the engine boils over and the system becomes low. Remember never ever open a radiator cap on a hot engine, you would be surprised how many professional mechanics get burned this way, be careful..
