1999 Ford F-250 Diesel 7.3L was running now not

Bought this Ford and it ran fine. Had no horn, bought one and placed it on there. Did not even hook it up, but cranked up the truck and spitter sputter, shaking and then died? I assumed it may have been the CAM sensor, so I bought one from Auto Zone and replaced it. Changed nothing. Anything else to check? I cannot get anyone to help until this weekend and I have to move cattle tomorrow.

Thanks, Ben

Hi,

we had an e-450 bus, same thing but absolutely no working room at all. it has two fuel filters one under the driver off frame and one on top of the engine, try those. if that dont get it then it should go to a diesel mechanic or get a special diesel code reader.

I'm assuming that this is an intermitent fault; are you make an scanning fault codes? Several items here, O2 sensors, camshaft, MAF/MAP, IAC, fuel pressure, bad injector, etc.

This is the firts step, check the OBD codes for knowed exactly what fault is there.

Tell us news.

SOURCE: f-250 won't start

Pull the EGR and make sure it's not stuck open. If it is, install a EGR elimination kit. Usually about $150 and requires pulling the intake off. This engine has a real bad rap for head gaskets, and EGR problems. If you pull the engine and install head gasket studs and EGR elimination. then you supposedly have a "bullet proof" 6.0L. but be prepared to dip in your wallet a LOT. Best to sell the thing and get a real diesel CUMMINS.

My 1999 7.3 diesel f250's airbag light flashes and the horn doesn't work. When you blow the horn you hear the relay (or whatever its called) in the fuse box click but no horn sound is heard.I bought this...

if the relay is clicking when you push the horn button then i would say there is a problem with the horn, if you can get to the horn tap on it with a small hammer or unplug the wire and test it with a test lite

I bought a 2001 Crown Vic Interceptor with everything in it. The horn wont work, though and i did a direct battery connection to a seperate battery and still nothing. fuse problem? and where is the fuse...

When they removed their wig wag and siren from my car, they cut the c.r. ap out of the wires. What a mess! Took a piece of wire (with both ends stripped) to test with... stripped a small area on each wire, and touched the test wire to the bare spot and the battery, until the horn sounded... that is the wire we used. Then, using a push button bought at Auto Zone ran a doubled wire inside the cab, cut it and placed one end on each side of the button... under the hood, one end of the new wire connects to the one that made the horn sound, and the other end of the new wire connects to the battery. Use electrical tape to cover every wire that was shaved, the ones used AND the ones not used. NOT PRETTY... but we have a horn.

Horn not working in 1999 ford explorer can't find fuse

Horn is up under drivers fender at the front of the car.
Mine was rusted bad and lost good ground contact. I bought an after market horn combo (high/Low) and relocated up in front of the radiator. If you listen to the relay under the hood it should click when you press the horn on the steering wheel, thats how I figured out it must be the horn and not the switching.

1991 ford 250 horn doesn't work can't figure out

First, hook a test light to the power wire on the horn, push the horn button, and see if you have power there. If you have power, the problem is the horn itself. Maybe even run a jumper wire to the horn, and see if it will blow. Sometimes with these older trucks, it just as easy to change the whole steering column as it is to find the problem. (if you can get a column from an auto wrecker cheap) It will likely be a broken wire in the column somewhere, ususally near where it tilts.

Diesel 1989 F-250 set too long and will roll over

You may have to bleed the fuel system. There may be a very small air leak in the fuel supply line and after a long time idle, the fuel seeps bac into the tank, leaving an air lock in the pipe. When you go to start, this air makes its way into your injection pump & needs to be bled out before the engine will start. Begin from your fuel filter bleed valve, next the injection pump using the primer pump to transfer the fuel. Next loosen off the injector pipes and crank the engine over until fuel sprays form all the joints. Tighten injector pipes and start. It may run a bit rough for to begin with, but will soon even out. If it doesn't start, repeat bleeding of injectors.
