We just purchased a 2005 Buick LaCrosse, but heard through the grape vine that a recall had been issued previously because the timing belts did not hold up due to the rubber they were made from. please...

Well, it's a good idea to change the timing belts every 80,000 mi. or so, and sooner under severe service. However, I have not heard about Buicks from the 2005 model year having a particular problem with the timing belts, more than any other brand.

I read over the gasoline engine recalls and didn't see it listed.

I have a 2005 Explorer XLT with 66,000 miles. Is it advisable to change the timing belt at this time . The car is running great.

Does your motor have a timing belt or chain? If it is a belt and it was mostly highway running you should be able to get quite a few mor miles out of it. As a rule of thumb, city driving, jackrabbit starts, lots of cold weather driving(bellow -20f) and towing belt should be changed at around 80,000 miles. If is light duty driving 100,000 miles. If it is a chain you might never need to change it.

2005 buick Lacrosse fuel filter and other problems...

No a Plugged fuel filter would not cause more fuel consumption but would lead to damage to the injectors and the fuel pump, and is much cheeper than the fuel pump or injectors. And I believe you mean Flex plate broke? And I do believe you should check with the dealer this unit should have a 100,000 drive train warrenty and they should kick in on the transmisson.

2005 Maxima question

You have years to change the belt. It's a good idea to change the belt at about 100,000 - 120,000 miles, whichever comes first. Hope it helps!
