i would think the out put would be to high (amps) and probably the mountings are different

The best and cheapest way to find out if it's the starter, battery, or alternator. Take it to autozone or kragen, wal-mart auto center pep boys. I know autozone, kragen, wal-mart will test your starter, alt., and battery for free, they will bring a machine out to the car and run the test. You can watch. Good Luck

The mark is inside on the block at about the 10:30 -11:00 o'clock position. It looks like a dash mark. It is between the crankshaft and the balance shaft side. Hope this helps.
