Broken hood release cable. How can I open the hood manually?

I have a 2006 Kia Spectra and yesterday my battery died and needed a jump. BUT, when I went to pull the hood release, nothing happened! I could not pop the hood to get to the secondary lock release! How do you open the hood manually? The hood release cable is broken.

I called Kia 24 hr. roadside assistance and the nerve of the guy kept asking me "Are you sure you are pulling the hood release hard enough mame?" Like I didn't know how to work the lever! DUH! They suggested I contact my local dealership. I did and wouldn't you know, the service dept. is closed on weekends! Other than having my car towed to the dealership, I don't know what I can do?

How do you release the hood manually? The release cable is broken and does nothing!

The cable is held in place by a metal bracket. If it cam off the bracket it won't work.

Look behind the part you pull and you will see the wire and the outer part of the cable. The end of the outer part of the cable has a groove neer the end. This groove slides onto a slot that is located just behind the pull latch. Once you see it it will make since on how it should go.

You can also grab the outer part of the cable and pull the inner wire. If you can pull the wire almost out, then it is broken. But the chances of that are very low.

My 2003 kia spectra jumped time, It don't sound like rods are bent! Is it worth trying to fix?

If it jumped the timing. more then likely it would bend the valves first before a rod. it is worth fixing if all it needs is a new timing chain/ belt and put new gears on also. as long as nothing internal happened it will be fine.

I have a 2006 chevy impala lt.yesterday I went to stary it & nothing happened, tried to jump it & got nothing but all the lights & electric came back on. I got 3 codes p0606 pd, p0606,...

The codes are for issues with the engine computer.
You may need a repair shop to check it out. It could be the computer or something in the wiring of the car.

2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee Hood will not lock

Sounds like the cable or the latch is stuck. The latch may need to be oiled. When someone pulls the handle under the dash, you should be able to watch the latch move back and forth.

Looks like the hood release is broken for my car how can i open the hood manually?

check to see if the cable came loose from the lever, there may even be an adjustment there. if not and the cable is still connected try subverting the lever by using pliers to grip and pull the cable. sometimes the latches just get sticky, try having a buddy bump the hood where the latch is while you manipulate the lever, if this works spray latch with wd-40 and check to see if there is an adjustment you can make at that point

How do I change the headlight on a 2006 KIA SPECTRA? Will I need to remove the front bumper?

i have a haynes 94 thru 04 for the spectra/ sephia its a little confusing but rather then removing the grill and doing this and that its saying--- 1995 1/2 and later remove 2 bolts 1 on top and 1 toward the hood latch almost at the corner of the light but still above the light itself . it says to pull out and disconect the electricals . compared to before 1995 1/2 seems to easy . nothing is ever that easy .

Went through puddle of slush everything started goin dim. died out when i got home. tightened the alternator belts and it still wont stay runnin. (will take a jumpand run for a minute or two. but then dies...

bad alternator. happened to me in a big puddle. go to the parts store and they'll test it for free. you're running the car off of the battery. you will kill the battery if you keep going. the alternator is a pain to get out/in because there are several things in the way that must be moved. $100-$150 for the part, 1-3 hours to do it. have the battery tested after you're done. good luck!

Can you tell me where the fuse is for the lighter?

Just above and to the left of the front hood release is a fuse panel. You'll need to pull the plastic cover off to see it. The 15 Amp fuse is dead center.

How do you replace a Drivers side headlight bulb 2006 kia spectra

Helps to remove the battery, but small ahbds can do it.

Directly behind the lens is a big round cap ... twist it off. The bulb is held in place with a spring that locks in to a notch in the holder. When handling the new bulb, don't touch the glass. The oil from your skin will cause it to shatter when turned on.
