The heater on my 96 accord lx wont work. i hooked a toggle switch up and the blower and the hot and cold switch work but fan speeds do not. I was told it was a possible resistor problem. where do i look?

all speeds go through the resistor except high that is why it will work on high you are bypassing the resistor if you are sure the resistor is good it has to be the blower spped switch on the dash
When the blower works only on the high setting its usually a bad blower resistor which is right near the blower motor. now you say it would always blow high regardless of the fan speed setting that would indicate probably the climate control unit or a connector problem somewhere. finally it not working at all may be the climate control unit or connection went bad even further. it might have a blown fuse or a bad blower motor in addition to the climate control unit or connector problem .check for power and ground at the blower motor. the power is supplied from fuses and may have a relay also. the ground is supplied from the climate control unit and goes through the resistor to control the fan speed. good luck
my heater isnt working. i replaced the blower motor but i had my brother in law check it and there is only like 4 volts going to the resistor where the blower hooks in. he says there should 12 volts going to it. is there something else causing the blower not to work?
check to see if there is a resistor on the blower motor. it should be located either beside or underneath the blower motor.. if that is bad it wont let you select different fan speed settings and if it goes completely out the blower will not work at all.
In my 1998 Honda Accord Lx the hot air does not come out of the heater vents in the floor, the same is true for cold air in the middle vents on the dash. The side vents on the dash work fine.
Did the switch break because it was stuck? If so, then yes, they will have to change actuators and doors. Does the fan work on all speed setting? If so then you do not need a blower resistor. The resistor pack only controls the current flow to change speeds of the fan.
