I have the same problem. I've found that if you push down on the trunk lid very firmly eventually the latch settles in and will open with the pull lever next to the drivers seat. I usually pull up and push down to mimic the closing motion in a firm manner and after a few tries this allows me to open it up. Consequently, I've begun to close the trunk lid with some force, slam it if you will, and this seems to prevent this from happening. I've lubed the latch with no success either. Just a Band Aid solution, not an actual fix.
