SOURCE: Sunroof

You will need to access the wiring to the sun roof and check for shorted/damaged wiring that might be rubbing on sheet metal and causing a short circuit, if you find nothing then the sun roof motor may be the culprit.

SOURCE: brocken freelander sunroof

The motor is accessed after removing the interior roof light console. I have to warn you that Freelander sunroofs have a lot of problems. To change the motor, I think you will have to remove the roof lining as well with all that entails. The Land Rover Workshop manual has all the detail whereas the Haynes manual does not.
Try www.myfreelander.co.uk/Body/sunroof5door.htm for an exploded view of the sunroof.

SOURCE: sunroof won't respond to controls on '93 Nissan Quest

It's either the switch or fuse or motor or rusted. Look in your car manual for "fuse box(es)' and follow the diagram and legend of your fuse panel. Or you can check each fuse to find a burnt out one and replace them. Sun roofs still working in "93's is a good design. If it has not been used for a season, you can try to help it when your activating switch. It could also be rust/corroding and needs to be freed up from it sitting position. When it opens get some good lubrication on the moving parts non conductive quality for electro parts. After you've check the fuse, switch, the motor will be hard to access to test it. So determine if it is NOT leaking, now do you want to chance it not sealing properly and leaking from your fuddling with it?

Sunroof won't close

Hey Paul, there are limit switches integrated into the motor on your sunroof, usually if it stops completely its because it detected a restriction, such as leaves, or dirt, if there are no visual sign then with the key on hold the switch to the full open position for 10-12 sec then hold it in the close position for the same, cycle the key and see if it reset. The motor can fail as well but it's not very common.. Do u hear any clicking from the motor area when this occurs, also check all fuses to be safe as well,..

Rear winshield wipers won't work

Sounds like you have a stripped arm or the linkage has came apart in the rear for the rear wiper.
The sunroof? I am not sure. check fuses.

Hi, my1999 mercury mystique sunroof will tilt but won't open. It makes a buzzing noise when I try. Is it a fuse or what?

If the fuse is bad you won't hear the actuator buzzing. Sounds like something has stripped or broke.

Sunroof will not close

When you press the button do you hear any noise coming from the sunroof? If not and you say you check the fuses then more the likely the motor burned out and you will have to replace it. But if you hear noise coming from the sunroof it may be that the sunroof came off track or is simply jammed for some reason.
