01 Chevy Tahoe, Only starts when it wants to

Every once in a while (about once a day) my SUV won't start. I have a fairly new battery and have not had any power loss once so ever. The starter engages and the vehicle turns over but within 1 second it dies off. I've checked all fuses and all spark plugs. Everything seems to be connected. After waiting aprx. 10-15 min the vehicle starts up without a problem. No warning lights on the display. It sounds to be running perfectly fine. I have taken it to a mechanic and it started for him 2 dozen times without a problem. It doesn't matter if the vehicle sits for 12 hours or 5 minutes. It has a mind of its own.

He's right my truck did the same thing only it cut off when ever it got ready. I also had problems cranking in the mornings. Change the sensor and I havn't had any more problems. The Sensor is located right above your starter. (You have to remove the starter) The part was 50 bucks. She drive like a champ now

2002 Chevy Tahoe. Car wont Start, Starter will keep on trying to start even with key out.

I'd look at the starter solenoid. It also contains the switch contacts that actually connects the battery to the motor. It may be starting to stick.

SUV won't start, nothing happens when I turn the key

Very likely bad battery. Most places that sell them will install for free.

You need special equipment to test this, so the dealer is the next step.

My 2003 chevy tahoe won't start in the morning

Many possible causes....Too little info to make an intelligent suggestion. Try charging the problem vehicle's battery with jumper cables for 2 minutes with the supply vehicle running at fast idle (or about 1500-2000 RPM, if it is tachometer equipped) before you try to crank the problem vehicle on a cold morning. If it starts right up, you likely have a weak battery that needs replacing.

I have a 2000 chevy tahoe and I jumper cable it to start and I drive it all day but the following day it wont start so I hve to jump start it again. It has a new battery and I got the alternator checked...

Unhook one battery cable, positive usually. Now hook a multimeter between the battery post and the cable. With everything off it should read zero volts or close to that. then switch the meter to measure current (amperage) it should read zero again (or very slightly above that as the radio memory draws a small amount.
If it isn't zero or low then you have an item that is staying on and draining your battery overnite. Time to troubleshoot what it may be.

Hello. My 1997 Chevy Tahoe refuses to start. The problems began with a bad fuel pump. I changed. It worked. The fuel pump died again. I changed it again and it has been working. I parked it for two weeks....

Now you have a good battery & a starter that turns over the motor

Have you cycled the key on & off with a fuel pressure gauge on the
fuel rail?

Do you have a fuel filter that isn't over 3 or 4 years old?

Have you checked for spark while cranking ? Use an old plug on the wires,
if you have ignition wires, don't ground the wire without resistance

If you removed the ducting & MAF Sensor it won't start

Tell us what you checked & exactly how that was done.

Have a 01 Tahoe with new red top and fairly new alternator. It charges at about 14v. But if I leave the Tahoe set for a week, it wont start.Where do I look for a voltage leak. The Tahoe seems to be working...

Start with the basics; Is the reason the car does not start is that the battery is discharged after a week of sitting or a case that it won't start without a jump although the battery is still good. If the car just does not start after sitting then try the following; Pull the negative battery cable and let the car sit overnight. Reconnect the cable in the morning and see if it starts. If it does then you are looking for something that is pulling current from the battery. Could be lots of things; light on in the glove box or trunk, a short in a wire, etc. You can try pulling a couple of fuses each evening and in the morning, replace the fuses and see if the car will start after sitting. If it continues to discharge the battery then try another set of fuses. The day it starts after sitting then you have narrowed the electrical system that is discharging your battery. Focus on those systems

I have a 2001 chevy tahoe wont start

could be as simple as a dirty fuel filter. or maybe the fuel pump has died..i will go with the fuel filter since you were able to get it started again.. also when replacing your fuel filter you should go ahead and get new plugs and wires.. a small tune up wouldnt hurt and would only set you back 100.00 dollers maybe.. hope this helps
