When I turn my vent selector to defrost on the far right (air con off)the air conditioning comes on. The dash vents will blow ambient air, but defrost setting blows air con. Any ideas?

ur r going to have to check the button or the release lever that alouds u to move the air to the other positions sometimes that's the problem

Hey man if the blower is working and air is coming from your other vents i have a few ideas.First i would start by checking your vent selection switch something may be stuck where the dash vents open. If the selector is fine you should try checking the ducting behind the dash it could have come apart or simply be cloged where it routes air to your dash. hope that is helpfull.

the blend door in the lwr air vents is stuck it should be down by the squerrl cage also it could be electronically controlled

its a problem with the switching mechanism. you have to look up under the dash to see if you can see where the switching mechanism is. if you can not see it from there youll have to remove complete center dash

behind the center counsel between the floor and the heater housing is a part that is called the blend door actuator. these usually go bad and have to be replaced.

Should be a central vaccuum block behind your selector for vent defrost etc. perhaps that is going bad. They're expensive for something made of plastic. cheaper alternative is the junk yard.

check your vacuum lines that sevice the plenumm doors that redirect the air. A good kick in one of the foot wells under the dash can dislodge a conection. The other problem may be the main dash selector its self
