Temp.gauge really has nothing to do with the perfomance of the engine. If the car has been unused for a few hours, the engine oil etc settles down. It is good idea to let it run after a cold start so the oil circulates in the engine. Keep in mind it's a 1996 model and needs more care. Keep servicing regularly.
I am driving VW Citi golf sport 1.4i,every morning whn is cold my car couldn't start, after many attempts it would and when I try to accelerate it will choke. After buying the temperature sensor my problem was solved. the mechanics advised me to buy petrol filter and petrol gauge regulator and a petrol pump, thanks I didn't buy them. Only a temperature sensor made my car a comfortable drive.
hello ive got a problem my golf 1.4 16v petrol year 2000when it reaches 2700 revs it cuts out and restarts like I basicly turned the ignition off and on again althought no other elictrical part of the car goes off stationary or driving it makes no differenceif im driveing along at 2700 revs just before it cuts out and drop a gear it lets me go past 2700 thus i can wind my way throught the gears past 3000 revs as soon as i slow down around 3000-2700 revs it cuts bk to doing the same on off on offthe radio-lights-windscreen wipers don't slow/shut off while this occurs and nor does anything elseoccasional when this random cutting out /restarting happens the oil light-pump stops working /light comes on and the rev counter stops working so i have to pull over and restart the car.its just passed a MOT with no faults and wonderfully for me the fault didn't happen that day ....ive changes plugs wires checked fuel pump-air pressure and i cant find anything pls could you give me some hints etc of what might be the issue
can you specify what type of oil you use and the type of weather you drive in? the reason i ask is because normally for hondas the recommended viscocity is either 5w30 or in hot conditions 10w30 which is reasonable, but thicker is better in hot conditions. what happens, is that the oil gets to a certain temperature that it cannot hold it self together and begins to break down, which is why at longer distances it has a higher chance of breaking down. and the oil it self might not actually be getting burned. have you checked the oil physically? if im not mistaken, the gage on the car is not an oil level gauge, but rather an oil pressure gage. like i said earlier, after a certain temperature the oil begins to break down, meaning that it cannot hold the same amount of pressure which your car has to maintain in order to prevent a blown head gasket. pretty much, unless you have your oil light come on, which means the oil pressure in your engine has dropped too much, then dont worry about it too much. the best thing i could recommend is increasing your viscocity to 5w40 of you live in colder climates, or 10w40 if you live in a warmer climate. hope this helps, and if you need any questions, let me know
I doubt very seriously the temp problem has anything to do with the timing issue. It sounds more like the water pump is going bad or you have low coolant. When your moving the fan should be free wheeling if it isn't the clutch is bad or the Fan motor is bad. I would look at the Fluid level and water pump for being the issue here.
not sure what exactly you are asking... if your temp gauge is normal with the motor up to normal temperature (210-211 degrees for dodge) and suddenly moves down to the cool mark like around 100-150 usually that indicates you are low or have no coolant. if your engine starts making knocking noises and pinging or sounds bad when this happens it is bad the motor is overheating. to find out if it is the head gasket. let the engine cool down, remove radiator cap look if you see oil in the radiator (antifreeze is usually orange, red or green) if it is black or milky white in the radiator good chance it is a blown head gasket, check the oil if there is water in the oil, good chance it is a blown head gasket. leave radiator cap off make sure radiator is full start engine let temperature come up to normal keep everyone away from radiator, rev engine in the safety of the car if you have radiator fluid shooting out of the radiator like a geyser it is blown head gasket
