Can you specify what type of oil you use and the type of weather you drive in? the reason i ask is because normally for hondas the recommended viscocity is either 5w30 or in hot conditions 10w30 which is reasonable, but thicker is better in hot conditions. what happens, is that the oil gets to a certain temperature that it cannot hold it self together and begins to break down, which is why at longer distances it has a higher chance of breaking down. and the oil it self might not actually be getting burned. have you checked the oil physically? if im not mistaken, the gage on the car is not an oil level gauge, but rather an oil pressure gage. like i said earlier, after a certain temperature the oil begins to break down, meaning that it cannot hold the same amount of pressure which your car has to maintain in order to prevent a blown head gasket. pretty much, unless you have your oil light come on, which means the oil pressure in your engine has dropped too much, then dont worry about it too much. the best thing i could recommend is increasing your viscocity to 5w40 of you live in colder climates, or 10w40 if you live in a warmer climate. hope this helps, and if you need any questions, let me know

White smoke is usually burnt water.
Check your radiator water level, if it is down, check for a blown head casket in your engine e.g.(water in the engine oil, or oil in the radiator water) brown froth on filler caps.

My Honda Accord 1996 Vtec Engine Oil Short after i travelled long distance

If you are saying your oil level is low, then you need to add oil to your engine. If you are concerned that the oil level was low after your long drive, it would depend on how long it has been since you added oil or even checked your oil level.Engines will consume oil over a long period of time. Especially if the oil is not changed according to manufacturers recommendations. Unless the low oil level was sudden I would not be concerned. If it happened suddenly and in a short period of time, look for an oil leak of indication of the engine burning the oil, such as smoke at the exhaust pipe.

My oil light in my 1996 honda accord keeps blinking and I put in 5quarts of oil today

Have this checked before you drive the car to long distance. The oil light on this car comes on when the pressure falls below about 9 psi. Have the oil pressure inspected with an oil pressure gauge. If you are lucky it's just a failing oil pressure switch, but it could be a clogged oil pick up screen or even an oil pump failure.

The first thing that can be done is try resetting the car by removing the battery and reconnecting it thus performing a hard reset..

I smell burnt oil after driving long distances, more or less 30 mintues of constant driving

Check the engine for oil leaks. More than likely oil is dripping on the hot exhaust pipe which causes the oil burnt smell.
