Check the door sensors are all ok.

Check the output on the alternator.. your battery might be just about dead.. Alternator should put out 14.5 v or more with the engine running, The battery with the engine stopped should read 12V or better.. with the engine running the battery should read almost as much as the alternator output.

Check the valve on the Heater hose in the engine compartment. Perhaps the cable has disconnected or corrion prevents the valve from closing.

The fan has nothing to do with the fault for the exhaust. Please see a dealer on this, you need a VW approved live data scanner to check this out.
