SOURCE: My 95 Pontiac Bonneville is not getting gas I've

What you need to do is have an assistant turn the key on (not try to start, just turn the key on) while you have the gas cap removed and your ear down by the gas tank fill tube. When they turn the key on you should hear a whirl only for 3-7 seconds. If you hear nothing more than likely you will need to change your fuel pump. Attempt this test on several tries at different times several hours apart before you **** your tank out to give it ample time to relieve any fuel pressure that may be built up thus causing your pump not to respond. BUT, if you are not getting any fuel you are not getting any pressure built up so it should be making some sound. How many miles do you have on this vehicle? 9 times out of 10, sorry to say, you'll be replacing the fuel pump. It sounds like to me that you have thourouly checked every other possible thing. Good luck my friend. Let us know how you come out.

The fuel line comes from the tank to the fuel filter, goes tru the fuel filter to the fuel line going to the engine injector fuel lines which deliver a mist of fuel to the engine cylinders to make the vehicle run.

I have a 2000 bravada that i need to replace the fuel lines on and i need a diagram for the gas tank and fuel lines.

Replacing fuel lines on a 2000 Bravada involves dropping the gas tank and replacing the damaged or worn out lines. Here are the steps involved in dropping the gas tank and replacing the fuel lines:
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent any electrical hazards.
  2. Remove the fuel pump fuse or relay to relieve the fuel pressure.
  3. Raise the vehicle using a jack and jack stands and secure it in place.
  4. Locate the fuel tank and disconnect the fuel lines and electrical connections from the tank.
  5. Support the fuel tank with a jack or stand and remove the straps or bolts that hold it in place.
  6. Lower the fuel tank and remove it from under the vehicle.
  7. Inspect the fuel lines and replace any that are damaged or worn out.
  8. Use the appropriate fuel line connectors and clamps to replace the fuel lines.
  9. Install the fuel tank and reconnect the fuel lines and electrical connections.
  10. Reinstall the straps or bolts that hold the fuel tank in place.
  11. Lower the vehicle and reconnect the negative battery cable.
As for the tools needed, you will likely need a socket set, wrenches, pliers, a jack and jack stands, and a fuel line disconnect tool. You may also need a fuel line repair kit if the damage is significant.
It is important to consult a repair manual or seek the help of a qualified mechanic if you are unsure about any step in this process. Additionally, be sure to follow proper safety precautions when working with fuel and fuel lines.

Where is fuel pump locate

It's in the gas tank. If you've never pulled a tank off to replace a pump, I advise you to buy a Haynes or Chilton repair manual for your Olds to follow the procedure-not immensely difficult, but pretty involved. All lines to the tank removed, electrical plugs disconnected, filler hose removed, then lower and drop the tank-2 straps usually hold it up-(helps to have as little gas as possible in the tank, or it will be quite heavy-in that case, use a floor jack with some wood padding to avoid denting the tank), remove tank away from car. To get to the pump, remove the locking ring (on top of tank) with a brass punch or wooden dowel (so no sparks, see?) or be very careful if you use a steel punch or big screwdriver-NOT RECOMMENDED-but I have done it without sparks, so just be careful. pull the locking ring off and pull out the pump and fuel sender unit. Take off old pump, and replace with new-hopefully it is a OEM-original equipment manufacture-Aftermarket brand pumps just do not perform as well as original (olds) equipment. If the pump has failed, it is good practice to also replace the fuel pump relay-a failing pump can sometimes damage or shorten the life of the fuel pump relay, or so I've heard. Common tools and ratchets are needed for the job-possibly also a release tool for the fuel line fittings-if you have those types of fittings, I think you do, called quick connect fittings.
There's lots of other procedures to get the tank off-like lowering tank, then remove lines and electricals from top of tank, probably the exhaust will have to be lowered, you can siphon gas out the filler neck after lowering the tank a bit. You need to know how to relieve fuel pressure before disconnecting lines, but if little or no gas is in the lines, there won't be pressure. You just need a repair manual to do it step by step-...and label all lines removed, so you know where they go back on the tank.
If I haven't discouraged you yet, buy the manual, and get set for a dirty Saturday afternoon. Essentials like beer and pot are a given. lol.

Location of gas pump

The fuel pump is located in the fuel tank. The fuel tank will need to be removed from the car in order to service the fuel pump.

Its not that hard to do. Basically in a well ventilated area (gas will spill and there will be vapors!!) remove the filler neck hose from the tank, remove the evap lines from the charcoal canister. Unplug the fuel pump connector from the under body plug on the passenger side. Disconnect the fuel lines. Support the fuel tank and remove the two fuel tank straps (You may need to remove heat shields and temporarily move the exhaust off to the side as well). Lower the fuel tank slowly checking to make sure you have everything disconnected.

Once the tank is down remove any debris that has accumulated around the sending unit. Remove the lock ring and finally remove the fuel pump.

That's it in a nutshell.

Let me know if you have any questions and I'll be happy to answer them. Thank you for using FixYa.com!

Where is the fuel pump on a 2002 ford taurus

Inside gas tank. Need to drop tank. You also need a special tool to release sending unit from fuel lines. I would get the whole unit not just the pump.

Thanks for choosing FixYa and welcome to the site. Your fuel pump may be going bad. It is possible. When you turn the key on, you can hear it for a second or two. So, when you turn the key on, it is at its strongest during those two seconds. It explains the gas working when you turn it off and turn it back on. Gas goes from the tank to the fuel pump, from the pump to the fuel filter, through the filter to the gas lines, from the lines to the fuel injectors and the engine. That is your gas system. It could be a clogged fuel filter or damaged lines. Check them all. A fuel filter is around 20 dollars and a fuel pump could cost 125-235 dollars. Your pump may be in the gas tank. In order to check it, you have to take the tank off. Try the filter first. If you have any questions, let me know. Thanks for using FixYa and have a good evening.

Do you have to drop the gas tank in order to change the fuel pump?

The fuel pump is actually inside the gas tank. So unless u want a big hole in your floor board i would disconnect fuel lines and wires to the fuel tank. Remove screws, and ground strap from the filler area. My luck I always have a full tank of gas when the fuel pump decides to go out.. Full tank of gas over your head is not much fun. anyway try to avoid dripping gas, and your ears.... Trust me i know hurts like no other....

Fuel pump location

  1. You fuel pump is located next to the gas tank.. Relieve the fuel system pressure and drain the fuel tank. Disconnect the negative battery cable with a socket wrench. Support the fuel tank and loosen the strap bolts.
  2. Disconnect the fuel lines from the fuel tank and disconnect the fuel pump's electrical connector.

  3. Access the fuel pump by lowering the fuel tank. Remove the locking ring on the fuel pump with a socket wrench and remove the fuel pump.

  4. Install the new fuel pump using the items included in the kit and tighten the locking ring to 40 foot lbs with a torque wrench. You will also need a torque wrench to tighten the main straps on the fuel tank to 40 foot lbs. and the T strap to 250 inch lbs.

I need to know where the fuel pump is on a 2003 oldsmoblie alero

It is in the gas tank so you must disconnect the fuel lines and if the tank has alot of gas then it may be better to drain some of it out through the disconnected fuel lines because it will be heavy. Take the straps loose from the tank and you will probably need at least one other person helping lower the tank out from under the car and you will find the fuel pump on top of the tank where you can remove it, just remember what you take loose so you can connect everything back the same way.
