50/50 with water.v6 capacity is 2.5 gallons. make sure your antifreeze is not already premixed 50/50 with water if it is just our it in. if its strait antifreeze mix it 50/50 with water. and if you did not get all the antifreeze out of the block it will not hold 2.5 gallons. refill procedure is fill the system up install the cap start the car watch the temperature hand till it comes up to normal stop the engine at this point and wait till it cools refill once more. this allow the engine to remove trapped air and open the thermostat for proper refill.
You refill the engine coolant by filling the overflow reservoir/pressure tank.Start the vehicle and keep filling until it reaches the full mark, then allow the engine to get to operating temp of 190 degrees and then top off the coolant. There is no bleeders for this engine unless you have a duramax then there is a bleeder on top of thermosatat housing that you remove with the engine off and fill the coolant until it comes out of the bleed hole.Start the duramax engine and let warm to operating temp. You may need to hold the engine speed at 2000 rpm to get the diesel to operating temp.
You have an air bubble. Look for plug on top of the intake manifold next to the thermostat housing, Remove that and fill until coolant starts to run out. Put plug back in loosely and continue filling until no more goes in. Tighten plug and replace your radiator cap. Fill overflow bottle and start engine.
That's unlikely. More likely is that you have an air pocket from the draining procedure. You should fill your radiator as high as you can after draining it, then, with the cap still off, start the engine and continue to fill as it runs. Have a helper keep the engine at around 1500 RPM and have the heat on. When the engine gets warm enough, the thermostat will open, and you may notice a drop in the coolant level. Keep filling the radiator until it will take no more. Then, put the cap on, make sure the overflow reservoir is filled, and turn off the engine. The cooling down process will draw in more coolant if needed.
Flush rad & change coolant & thermostat. Check operation of rad fan, & make sure it is coming on when engine reaches normal operating temperature. Be sure to bleed air out good when refilling rad/cooling system. Start engine & turn heater on when refilling & let rad fan come on & off at least 2 or 3 times before putting cap back on rad, and refill rad as needed as you do this. then fill return bottle to proper level & see what happens.
they should have towed it!!! ,sounds like it was overheating should be filled ,checked for leaks and repaired including a new thermostat and make sure electric cooling fans ok,,as long as head gasket is not involved..good luck
I think this model has a 4t40e trans. The fill is a cap Near the top of the bell housing. It is a red screw cap that says trans fill on it. There is a plug just above the lip of the bottom pan gasket near the passenger cv shaft. Remove the plug and fill the trans until oil runs from the plug hole. Now start the car and continue to fill until oil runs from the plug again. When the trans oil is running out with the engine running it is full. Reinstall the plug.
yes the transmission has a pump inside of it and will fill the converter just make sure that you get the right amount of trans. fluid in it it will take more that if you just replaced just the filter.
I hate to be the one to break it but it make be your head gasket I had the same problem first they thought the thermostat then I was left on the side of a high way in the de4ad of winter
