Transmission gasket leaking

Very easy BUT messy to replace.. A filter and gasket kit is less than $20. Just remove all of the bolts on the transmission pan with a drain pan underneath... Replace the filter inside. Clean the pan and transmission surfaces and install with the new gasket. Do not use gasket sealer unless instructed to... Then re-fill with recommended fluid. Check fluid level with engine running.

I have a 1994 DeVille, with less than 100K miles. Should I be concerned about 2 small oil leaks (they appear to happen directly under the engine when sitting in the drive way). We just had transmissio

Yes, Those small leaks will become big leaks. Is it trans fluid red color? Then I would go back to the shop where the trans service was done to have them re-seal the pan gasket.

Transmission fluid is leaking how do i fix it

Hi Sandra:
Normally if oil or transmission fluid mixes with coolant it will turn milky looking like a milkshake. Your leak must be pretty fresh. from your description that it is coming out of the coolant overflow I am thinking you have a radiator transmission cooler leaking into the cooling system.

You will need a new radiator and possibly all the coolant hoses if they have become soft from the transmission fluid.

In most cases if your getting transmission fluid in the radiator it is cause by a bad transmission cooler that is built into the radiator and the fix is to replace the radiator.

The repair will change in price from where the leak is coming from. If the pan is leaking or the rear seal your looking at $100.00 or less. If the front seal is leaking then around $550.00. The most common leak is the pan gasket. Also if the transmission fluid and filter have not been replaced in the last 30,000 miles and the pan is leaking then I suggest doing this also why the pan is off .

Hope this helps; also keep in mind that your feedback is important and I`ll appreciate your time and consideration if you leave some testimonial comment about this answer.

TRANSMISSION FLUID LEAKS,CAN BE FOUND AROUND PAN GASKET.CHECK PAN GASKET,IF IT LOOKS WET AND YOU SEE FLUID DRIPPING AROUND THE EDGE OF OIL PAN, REPLACE PAN GASKET, WHILE YOU REPLACING PAN GASKET REPLACE TRANSMISSION FILTER WHILE OIL PAN OFF.IF TRANSMISSION OIL PAN NOT LEAKING, CHECK TRANSMISSION OIL COOLER LINES GOING INTO RADIATOR YOU WILL LOOSE A LOT OF FLUID THERE ALSO TORQUE SHAFT SEAL WILL CAUSE HEAVY FLUID LEAK WHILE ENGINE RUNNING CHECK OIL COOLER LINES AND LOOK AT THE TORQUE AREA WHILE ENGINE RUNNING YOU WILL SEE FLUID POURING WHILE ENGINE RUNNING THE OIL PUMP PRESSURE WILL PUSH FLUID OUT AT THE LEAKING AREAS.

Hello i have a 2002 hyudnai accent 1.6 automatic. I noticed the other day the my car was leaking transmission fluid alot. I looked under the car and i cant tell where it is coming from.when i looked it is...

It's very likely the leak is from the gasket on the transmission pan. Once a leak starts, it's common for it to "travel" to different areas which would account for you seeing more than 1 area of leaking fluid. A problem like this could also be a leaking transmission line but based on the amount of fluid you are losing, I'd lean toward the gasket being the problem. If you decide to change the gasket, it would be a good idea to go ahead and replace the filter as well. If having the work done at a service station, I'd go ahead and have the full fluid change which would include a new filter and gasket as well as changing out the fluid which should be changed every 30k miles.

Transmission pan gasket.

If it's readily accessible, you can but it's also a good idea to replace the filter while you're there. A new filter, fluid, and gasket should keep the transmission trouble free for at least 30K miles.
