My 94 chevy s10 pickup 4.3 l vortec is getting horrible gas mileage around 10 mpg and it is leaking coolant it was running hot before so i replaced water pump and gaskets it does not over heat anymore but still leaks small amounts of coolant and it seems to thicken up and stick on the bottom we think its my intake manifold we believe there is a leak would this cause the horrible gas mileage? or would it be something else? should we take the intake manifold apart replace gaskets and rtv ultra black it? would this stop the leak and improve gas mileage because im reading it should get about 16 mpg and its not its getting way worse help meee
Go to You Tube Video to find the problems
with that motor & the solution
A local repair shop can check bulletins in their
data base for the fix also
Most likely intake gasket,if you use Dex Cool
It eats gaskets & the vehicle is old ,so you can expect
to be constantly working on it
Testimonial: "i do use dex cool "
SOURCE: Coolant Leak

replace the gasket but I would take it to a shop if you are not familiar with that engine the injection system will have to come out and it is delicate.

SOURCE: My 1999 chevy tahoe is leaking antifreeze. I
it could but- check passenger side front where heater core line go into manifold right behind alternator the hose line is connected by a press clip into an alloy fitting this fitting gets eaten away by anti freeze and hose angle pulls back on fitting the part is $18 at dealer and is screwed into manifold use caution if ur r going to replace at very edge of aluminum manifold---and check ur water pump bolts the 2 longer ones should have a lock sealant on them they bolt in thru a water jacket
