Flashing 4wd light. No abs light comes on. Escape resets itself when i turn the ignition off. Manual says when 4wd light flashes it is in need of service. What kind of service?
Usually it means there is a component of the system that is not working. It could be a sensor or mechanical problem.
You'll probably need to take it to a dealer or major shop to get it tested.

You need to remove your tyres and clean the abs sensors well enough.
You might also change your brrake pads if they have gone bad.

The overdrive light blinking means that a fault code has been stored in the computer, this can be for many different reasons. The car isn't actually turning overdrive on and off, it is just a way to alert you of a problem. Getting the computer scanned will provide a fault code eg. you will need to scan for ABS code......possible a wheels speed sensor is bad....also this will effect the 4X4. and engine/trans....first start with diagnostics to correctly save time and money, this can be a complex system....hope this helps....GL
