SOURCE: 1991 Dodge Daytona Speedometer and Odometer not working.

I had the same problem with my 90 daytona. The tach and the speedometer would work intermitantly. I took the whole gauge cluster out, and heated all the soldering with a solder gun to reflow the connections. It seems that this is a common problem with the connections cracking. You may not be able to see the cracks in the solder.

What is the code that you have? The speed sensor and speedometer is all electrical. So the problem must be electrical. You may have a bad "new" sensor also, it doesn't happen much but sometimes these things don't work out of the box.

Speedometer works, but odometer doesn't.

If the speedo still works but the odometer doesnt then the speedo needs to be replaced, just replace the cluster,

Odometer doesn`t work

Thanks. The odometer is driven by plastic gears inside the instrument cluster. Since the speedo works we know the info is getting to the cluster so the plastic gears are obviously stripped or broken. This is pretty common on these vehicles.

You'll need to replace the cluster or have it repaired.

My odometer stopped counting. All of my other gauges work. Does anyone know how I can fix it? Thank you

If the speedometer does work and the odometer does you know that the speed senser is working. I think that your model has a mechanical display and not digital, The handy with tools watchmarker perfect repairs in your history you can do this otherwise hire it done. The instrument cluster can be removeded and disassembled. the odometer plugs into the circiut board and persons nailing the trip odometer button can work the plug loose, work the plug ( clean connections replug a few times) then reinstall watching the connection of the cluster to the dash also ( work it too ) Assemble and test. High legal troble for changing the mileage I know of two peaple that are still in Jail

1990 Crown Vic LX Odometer does not work

I think the speedo head is probably good. You need to check the speedo cable and the gear at the end of the cable housing. If the gear is cupped in the center it is worn out. Replace the gear by the color code at your local Ford dealer. The other scenario would be that the gear on the output shaft is worn also. This would require the tailshaft be removed from the tranny and the nylon gear replaced on the output shaft. Good luck.

No Odometer read out

The odometer is driven off the speedo by and internal gear, they do not service the parts, so a new/rebuilt speedo is required to fix the problem
