1998 Holden Rodeo TR series 5-speed manual 2WD

I have a 1998 TF series Holden Rodeo which, when idling, revs very high and then very low. The high revs get progressively higher with each cycle and the low revs get progressively lower until the engine stalls. Revs can be held at a constant 1200rpm by applying a little constant accelerator. When stopping the engine has a tendency to stall. The problem is not noticeable when the engine is cold and gets progressively worse as it warms up.

1994 Holden Rodeo TF 2.6. How to replace starter motor.

Question edited for clarity and terminology.

You never need to take the engine out. It is normally done from underneath with the car on a lift.

I have a Holden rodeo v6 2005 auto and it keeps reving high and low when lam diving has anyone have any idea.

Hi Jim I see someone else has requested more information i am unable to find your reply. When does it rev high and low? if it is when the vehicle is stationary ie stoped at lights at idle. Bare with me i had one with the same fault, it took a while to sus it out simply because of what was causing the fault and would not have found it without connecting Tech2 (diagnostic tool) this gave me the information required to locate the fault. now it may not be the fault but it may be worth checking A shot in the dark !! Check the power steering switch from memory left side (passenger side) down low of engine just able to be accessed. check for a high resistance ie poor connection /dirty connection / pinched or damaged wire. If this does not work would advise Holden dealer a Diagnostic scan should be carried out. Good luck

I have an old holden rodeo KB series. The complience plates say it's a KBD42 made in 1985, yet I am told KBD42 stopped being manufactured in 1983 and that mine might be a KB43 or KBD43 as mine has a f

Have a careful look at the compliance plate. It's possible the 3 looks like a 5. The 5 speed transmission may have just been put on. Sure enough GM stopped manifacturing KBD42s in 1983.

My1998 Mazda B3000 4x4 3.0 5 speed idles high almost all the time. It gets worse when coming to a stop and then will idle down. Sometimes it wil rev up to almost 2800 RPM. Avg. idle speed is 900 RPM.

This sounds like the TPS. Thottle Position Sensor. This controls the idle. Your local Advance Auto Parts should have this part. It should not be that expensive.
