I need to know what transmission is in my 1994 chevy c2500 pick up 2wd and 5.7 motor i just bought the truck and the ****** is trashed

Automatic??? If so, as early as 93 has the 4L60E (remember the E as it is different than the 4L60). It will have a square pan with 16 bolts and a large connector with many wires (20 if I remember right) on the right side.
The 4L60 (earlier known as the 700R4) also has a square pan with 16 bolts but it will only have a square four wire plug and a TV cable near the dipstick tube coming from the throttle lever.

    OOOPS!

    I forgot to describe the 4L80E.

    Easy way to ID it is the pan is more a rectangle with 17 bolts. One corner would be missing and another corner will be rounded.

You need to look for the Electronic control module plug on the transmission.

PLUG ON DRIVERS SIDE: 4L80E (RWD)

PLUG ON PASSENGER SIDE: 4L60E (RWD)

Albert, Have truck scanned for trouble codes. To test a transmission solenoid, use hand held ohm meter. Instructions in second link below, the attached links are informative on the different procedures used to test solenoids.

Need to know what 5 speed transmissions will interchange with a 92 ranger with a 3.0
You didn't mention if it was 2 or 4 wheel drive so I went with a 2 wheel drive. According to hollander the 5 speed transmaaion fits a ranger (2WD) 1991 - 1994 and a Mazda B3000 1994 only. Hope this helps.....

Where does the speed sensor go on the transmission?
u need to know if its 2wd or 4wd. ill give u a link to help u more. usually they r on the end of the tranny. those trucks are known to have gauge cluster failure. heres ur link, good luck
