Check charging system and won't start

Your alternator is probably going bad. Without enough power coming from it, it drained your battery, which is why it wont start. You can test this yourself with a multimeter, but if you dont know hiw, just remove the alternator and have it tested at autozone. Replace the alternator, charge battery and you are good to go. If the alternator tests good, check the wiring around it. Could be a bad wire,

Dome lights and mirror lights stay on

check your instrument lights dimmer switch near the head light switch. Its the switch you spin up and down like a wheel to adjust the lights on your speedometer, radio etc. If ok, it may be a power control module problem. Hopefully this helps!!

Where is door lock relay?

has no relays that you can change or test , internal to the vehicle security module . Principles of Operation Power Lock The power lock/unlock feature requests all of the vehicle doors, including the liftgate, be locked or unlocked upon a customer request from any interior door lock switch in the vehicle. The power door locking system functions independently of ignition status or vehicle speed. When the vehicle security module receives an unlock/lock command from any door lock control switch, the vehicle security module will activate relays internal to the module to supply the correct power and grounds for the door lock actuators. Your best bet , have a qualified repair shop check it out .

I have a 2004 Ford expedition, does it have a PCV

The PCV valve is going the way of the carburetor, they are being phased out by "most" companies. If you can't find it, most likley it's not there. Thank you, Dana

Can you run a 04 Expedition without a diode for the AC clutch

Without the diode, risk damage to sensitive electronic components.
The clutch solenoid coil is similar to ignition coil, when energyzed they build magnetic energy that when deenergyzed, the colapse of the magnetic energy or field induces a voltage spike. This voltage spike is arrested by either capacitor or diode to keep the voltage spike isolated, from sparking, from damaging other components in the circuit involved.

Where is the fuel pump

67sunbeam, this is a rather complex system. The actual fuel pump, relay is located in the central conjunction box which is located behind the left kick panel. IT IS NON SERVACEABLE according to Ford. There is an inertia switch inside the left rear cab corner near the bottom. Just push it into the relay, if it was tripped, it will click. There is a fuseable link in the engine compartment next to the battery on the engine side. Aside from that, the fuel pump it self could have connection problems and more. Beyond the simple things, unless you fix cars for a living, it may cost you more to fix it you self than to bring it to a pro.

04 ford expedition 4.6 my gage keeps going up when I drive but the truck is not overheating, so their telling me that It can be the coolant sensor or switch but I can't find a diagram online for it

Could be the gauge also , which means the instrument cluster would have to be repaced . Rather then playing around with the coolant temp sensor an wiring diagrams , have it checked for code's . Your vehicle has a cylinder head temp sensor .(CHT) Principles of Operation The Expedition and Navigator instrument clusters are configurable, hybrid electronic clusters (HEC) that contain a microprocessor, gauges, indicator lamps, and internal circuitry. The instrument cluster is non-repairable at the dealership level with the exception of the warning indicator bulbs on the Expedition only and the instrument cluster lens on both the Expedition and Navigator clusters. The instrument cluster utilizes hardwired circuitry, the standard corporate protocol (SCP), and universal asynchronous receiver-transmitter (UART)-based protocol (UBP) communication networks. Communication using the SCP network transmits and receives data between the instrument cluster, the powertrain control module (PCM), and the anti-lock brake system/traction control/integrated vehicle dynamics (ABS/TC/IVD) module. Communication using the UBP network utilizes data transmitted and received by the instrument cluster and the four-wheel drive control module, power liftgate module (Navigator only), parking aid module, air suspension module, vehicle security module, driver seat module and the electronic air temperature control (EATC). For additional information regarding the SCP and UBP communication networks, refer to Section 418-00 . It is very important to understand:
  • where the input originates from.
  • all the information necessary in order for a feature to operate.
  • which module(s) receive(s) the input or command message.
  • Does the module which received the input control the output of the feature, or does it output a message over the SCP or UBP network to another module?
  • which module controls the output of the feature.
  • Temperature Gauge The PCM receives the engine coolant temperature status through hardwired circuitry to the engine coolant temperature (ECT) sensor. The instrument cluster receives the engine coolant temperature data from the PCM through the SCP communication network. The instrument cluster microprocessor monitors the engine coolant temperature data received from the PCM and commands the temperature gauge indication with a corresponding movement of the pointer.
  • Incorrect temperature gauge indication
  • Circuitry.
  • Cylinder head temperature sensor.
  • Powertrain control module (PCM).
  • Instrument cluster.
  • Go To Pinpoint Test E .
Your best bet , take it to a qualified repair shop . You have no idea of the electronic's involved here . PINPOINT TEST E: INCORRECT TEMPERATURE GAUGE INDICATION Test Step Result / Action to Take E1 RETRIEVE THE RECORDED DTCS FROM BOTH CONTINUOUS AND ON-DEMAND INSTRUMENT CLUSTER SELF-TESTS
  • Use the recorded instrument cluster DTCs from the continuous and on-demand self-tests.
  • Are any instrument cluster DTCs recorded?
Yes If instrument cluster DTC U1073 is retrieved, REFER to the Powertrain Control/Emissions Diagnosis (PC/ED) manual to continue diagnosis. For all other instrument cluster DTCs REFER to the Instrument Cluster Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) Index. No GO to E2 . E2 CARRY OUT THE COOLANT TEMPERATURE GAUGE ACTIVE COMMAND USING THE DIAGNOSTIC TOOL
  • Connect the diagnostic tool.
  • Key in ON position.
  • Enter the following diagnostic mode on the diagnostic tool: Instrument Cluster Active Command.
  • Select the instrument cluster engine coolant active command.
  • Trigger the engine coolant active command. Scroll in three increments 0%, 50% and 100%.
  • Did the temperature gauge start at cold when at 0%, move to half at 50% and full hot at 100%?
Yes REFER to the Powertrain Control/Emissions Diagnosis (PC/ED) manual to continue diagnosis. No GO to E3 . E3 CHECK FOR CORRECT INSTRUMENT CLUSTER OPERATION
  • Disconnect all instrument cluster connectors.
  • Check for:
    • corrosion
    • pushed-out pins
  • Connect all instrument cluster connectors and make sure they seat correctly.
  • Operate the system and verify the concern is still present.
  • Is the concern still present?
Yes INSTALL a new instrument cluster. REFER to Instrument Cluster in this section. TEST the system for normal operation. No The system is operating correctly at this time. Concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector. CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.

2002 explorer a/c blowing out of defrost and not dash vents

The direction of the air flow (dash/defrost/floor, etc) is controlled by vacuum going to the switch. There may be a vac line that didn't get connected or was damaged when they put the replacement engine in it. Check the lines on the firewall to make sure nothing is loose.
