Cooling fans do not work.Replaced relay. Turn ac

Keep in mind that if the fan doesn't run with the engine running and the A/C its ON position, bad fan or sensor or relay. Then, its possible that you have any problem with the Air Conditioning Thermostatic Expansion Valve Replacement, not wth the fans relay or motor.

The service procedure for replacing the expansion valve on the Corvette is outlined below. This procedure is more detailed and supercedes the one listed on page of the Chassis Service Manual.

1. Purge system of refrigerent.
2. Drain cooling system and remove radiator supply tank.
3. Disconnect heater hoses from heater core.
4. Disconnect power element bulb.
5. Remove expansion valve hold down strap.
6. Remove equalizer line from suction throttling valve.
7. Disconnect expansion valve inlet and outlet connections and remove valve.
8. Install new thermostatic expansion valve by reversing removal procedure.
9. Evacuate and charge system.

Test it and tell us news.

My cooling fans will not

On this vehicle there are 3 cooling fan relays and three fuses for the cooling fans. There are 2 in the under hood fuse panel and 1 in the instrument panel. You need to check the fuses and make sure they are all good. They get there input via the coolant temp sensor for the computer which in turn signals the cooling fan relays to turn on the fans. The other thing with the a/c clutch coming on and off.If the a/c system is low on freon this will cause the clutch to cycle more.If you can get a scan tool you need to monitor the coolant temp sensor to see if it is reading the same as the temp on the temp gauge. The other thing you an do is check for codes.Hope this helps and let me know what you come up with.

Describe how to let the top down in a 1996

You need to have a special wrench that will allow you to unscrew from the inside of the cabin, both in the front and rear of the top. Its actually a real pain to deal with. Once you get it out, carefully place it in the back, and remember when placing it back on, don't screw on any of the bolts tight, do loose at first so it sits just right. If you don't you'll have a huge leak.

1996 chevy corvette passive keyless entry light

This is an indication the passive reciever has been set to off. Press and hold the door button on the hand held passive remote for 2 seconds the door locks should cycle locked then unlocked. The passive indicator should go out and the system should see the remote when you walk away from the car (dors lock, horn blows). If nothing happens test the hatch button (if you ha a coupe) to see that the remote battery is good.

1990 Chevrolet Corvette

Do an oil change. When your ready to start it up crank it a few times before turning it over to assure the oil pressure is in the cam.
Naturally a new battery (thats the correct one.)
Clean cables.(including the wires off the starter and the starter interrupt relay)
Put a bottle of Injector cleaner in tank.
Replace coolant ,hoses and thermostat.
Bleed brake lines and replenish fluid then check calipers for leaks.
Replenish and blled out power steering fluid.
Change all ATF and Differential fluids whether
automatic or stick.
Inflate tires and be prepared for a rough ride until steel belt returns to normal.
After you got it to go, gonna take a while for radio to be normal again.
A/c problems are usually on the block of the high side pressure hoses.(You will see the oil film on the lines thats were the leak is.) This is all fun stuff any problems keep me posted I got an 81 thats all show I know what your going threw.

The car was running started to stall shut off, then

Your fuel filter may have gotten to the end of it's life and needs to be replaced. Start with the simple and replace the fuel filter, a dirty fuel filter will not set the check engine light to come on, at worst it's a weak fuel pump and that may need to be replace. Good luck and thank you for using Fixya.

What do I do before starting the 1996 Corvette after

Glad you asked the question.
You how ever did not say how it was stored.
In a garage or outside Loved or not loved???

This list will be long as to us anything over 30 days parked is old.

If your not a mechanic we can stop here. Have it towed to your local mechanic shop and start with.

Have all fluids and filters changed.
Inspect and replace hoses.
Replace Battery.
Pull and inspect brakes.
Repack wheel bearings.
Pull out fuel pump and inspect tank for rust.
Replace fuel pump Highly recommended.
Tires look at the 4 digit dot code ensure tires are not over 5 years old it reads like this first two numbers are the week of the year manufactured the last two numbers are the year.

This should get you started,

We fully expect you could also have seal problums even after you get it running.

Sorry for all the great news but a car not properly stored is bad news.

Hope this tip helps.

Congratulations on owning a great car.

I have a 96 vette that won't start

If your vehicle is factory should have electronic multiport fuel injection, and would have a fuel pump located inside the gas tank with the sending unit to the fuel gauge. also check fuses and relays first before removing tank. and ensure that you have spark before checking fuel, unless you know that spark is good. oh i this is of course if the vehicle is cranking at lease, if not start with the starting and ignition circuits. hope this will help.

Purchased a new clicker.from g/m.i can't program

1. Move all Keyless Remotes out of range of vehicle. (10 to 15 feet)
2. Turn ignition key to the ON position.
3. Push the TRIP/ODO button on the DIC (Driver Info Center) twice.
4. Within 5 seconds, push & hold the FUEL INFO button on the DIC until
the PKE light comes on and stays on.
5. Turn the ignition to the OFF position, but leave the key in the ignition.
The PKE light will begin flashing.
6. Bring one Keyless Remote into range. The PKE light will stop flashing
and stay on to show the code is stored. Move the Keyless Remote out

for the next Keyless Remote.
7. If more than one Keyless Remote is being programmed, move the first
Keyless Remote out of range and repeat step 6 for any additional Keyless
Remotes. Up to three Keyless Remotes can be programmed.
8. To turn off the programming mode, simply remove the key from the ignition
or turn the ignition switch on.
9. The programming mode will shut off after two minutes if.
A) You have not programmed any Keyless Remotes.
B) Removed the key from the ignition.
C) After three Keyless Remotes have been programmed.

Good luck and keep me posted.
