Have you disconnected the battery recently or allowed it to go completely flat?

If not that, you need to connect it to a code reader. Lack of fuel pump pressure is the most likely, but could be any one of a number of failed sensors.

A Lexus GS 400 should only be serviced by a dealership and at the recommended intervals. Lexus ES330 here :>)

Remove the key.
Put the gear lever in whatever you were in before.
Reinsert the key.
Foot on break and move into Park.
Start the vehicle.

If that doesn't work, call your local dealership, as you have an issue that no one else has done before. You aren't supposed to be able to remove the key in any other gear except park.

Timing belts are replaced as part of scheduled maintenance, usually every 60,000 to 100,000 miles. Timing belts can fail before that interval is reached, but most vehicles will never have a problem with this part.

It is located on the tires (near the brake rotors for the front tires and in the rear end housing for the rear tires). The job of the wheel speed sensor is to constantly monitor and report the rotational speed of each tire to the ABS control module.

I would say the safety latch is impossible to break. You are not attacking it correctly. On my Lexus you have to feel for the latch and lift the lever ABOVE it. Pop the electronic release and lift the hood a bit and look in there with a flashlight.

Due to a script glitch on the site, I can't reply to comments! You said

"Maybe I mis=stated by saying the Safety Latch is broken. What's broken is the Lever, so when I can lift the hood slightly, I can't get the Safety Latch to release..."

That is exactly what I know you meant. I don't think it is possible to break the hood safety catch, it is just too well made and strong. When you pop the electronic release, the safety catch is just below the surface of the hood. You get your fingers under it and lift the catch upwards. As I said, look in there with a flashlight. Look for the catch, look upwards and to the right. Let me know.

STOPPING THE ALARM Turn the ignition key from the "LOCK" to "ACC" position. The alarm will be stopped but the starter circuit will remain disabled. Stopping the alarm in this manner will keep the alarm from being reactivated when any of the doors, trunk or hood is opened.

By 1996 many vehicles were fitted with a security system and sometimes the in-car entertainment was incorporated into it.

I suggest a call to the dealer or other specialist to ask the question might avoid possible problems...
