1995 Lexus 400 instrument cluster light not working
While the instrument clusters in all the 1995 ls-400 look the same, they are not created equal. They use different part numbers for the same model year. So the repair depends on the cluster part number itself because different part numbers, means they have different circuits boards, and different parts inside, and this includes the numbering of the capacitor locations inside. So the idea of "which capacitor to look for" depends on the particular circuit board version or part number you have. Incidentally, the "capacitor repair" fix you see on the web to repair the burned out cluster lights issue doesn't apply to the 1995 instrument cluster. It applies to the 1994 and earlier instrument cluster. Similarly, you can't put a 1997 cluster inside a 1995 ls400 because the blue plug on the cluster is a different size. So it's critical the part number of the cluster needs to be identified before you can repair or replace one. The 1995 ls400 could have an instrument cluster with part number 83010-50592 or 83010-50590 or 83010-50600 etc... Instrument clusters are not simply interchangeable with ones with different part numbers either, because the vehicle ECU is programmed to only work with the specific cluster part number that originally came with the vehicle. Also Lexus dealers are no longer replacing these because the part is no longer manufactured. However, you can get them repaired. Search the web for "lexus ls400 instrument cluster repair"Location of part #... This one is 83010-50600...
My 1996 LS 400 appears
Always go directly to the ground and check it is clean and well connected. I speak mainly here of the body grounds. Battery to starter is fine cause it cranks well and headlights are operable, it's just the battery ground to the body that's giving you trouble. When electrical problems arise, Always go directly to the grounds first.
