    grainy pics

  • Neilio84 Dec 11, 2008

I bought my FujiFilm FinePix S5700 a year and ago and it's been NOTHING but trouble.

Yes, the pics are OK with a flash but if you like dramatic lighting like me and don't fancy using that facility then you're in trouble. The viewfinder presents a grainy image and when you shoot a pic without a flash the picture too will be grainy. I've tampered with the ISO and played around with the settings countless times but with no avail. This camera was supposed to be a step up from my old, battered Sony but because it produces such hideous pics I've had no choice but to go back to my old one (which has since broke). At university my final major project was ruined thanks to not being able to blow up images taken with this so-called camera to a large scale for my degree show. So as you can see I've lost out on a lot.

Chances are this is faulty. But can anyone give me any advice as a last hope?? Now I have new projects on the go I REALLY don't wanna bugger up again. Thanks in advance.

    Just for the record:
    - FujiFilm FinePix S5700
    - ISO setting of 400
    - Without flash (though with flash can show some graininess too)
    - Inside shots (usually)

Grainy pictures

If you are taking pictures in low-lighting conditions without flash, then the pictures will appear grainy. Set the ISO to a lower number (try ISO-100 to start with) and use the flash to compensate for low-light conditions.
This should improve the grainy appearance of your photos.

You need to check your ISO setting and the picture quality you have your camera set to. It should be at the maximum megapixels and fine quality and the ISO should be below 800 or even 400.

Grainy bdmv platyback

You have a couple of options.
1. Turn down the sharpness on your TV. Too much is overkill, anyway.
2. Whilst watching any movie, hit the triangle button for the movie settings & options. Turn up the noise reduction to +3, also the "mosquito" noise to +3.
These should give you a less grainy picture. Enjoy!

Polaroid i1035: Bad quality pictures, appear grainy and fuzzy

The grainy effect has to do do with the ISO setting, try adjusting that. A higher ISO is generally better for darker conditions. I have noticed that this camera frequently takes grainy images.

Very grainy pictures indoors at night

If you can adjust the ISO sensitivity to a lower number then the graininess will be reduced.

However, by reducing the ISO, you will need a slower shutter speed and a larger aperture. A tripod, table or other support may be necessary.

The "noise reduction" setting on the camera can also be adjusted a step up.

Taking pictures at full resolution and fine compression will also help.

Overall, at least try lowering the ISO, and using the flash brighter.

Grainy pictures

grainy pictures are possibly casued by a very high ISO (sensativity) setting, you should be on 100 or lower for best normal shots. Higher settings are for low light and custom shooting in strange lighting or aperature/shutter speeds. Try full auto setting.
