Grainy Pictures I have had my olympus stylus 710 for about 6 months and have been noticing more and more grainy pictures once developed. They are usually when taken indoors. It doesn't look grainy on the LCD screen but when they are developed it is very grainy. This even happens when the flash is used. Any suggestions? Is there a setting I can change for higher quality pictures? I have a gig memory so I don't care if I am going to be using a lot of space. Got 7.1 megapixels and want to use them! :-)

It could be a problem with CCD, and that can just be replaced in a service centre.

Have you got the Sensitivity set too high in a manual mode? Open the camera menu. press OK. next to ISO does it say auto or does it have a value 64/100/200/400/800/or 1600. A high value will give grainy pictures

Hi,
Yes, somehow it got change to the low quality or email setting. Go into the menu and find the picture quality setting and then change it to the high quality setting again.

Grainy pictures...iso problem for olympus stylus 820

Without ISO you will not be able to take pictures.
ISO is the old ASA which is related to film speed
ISO 50 is very slow film speed and may result in blur and some grainy appearance , same as if you PUSHED ISO up to 800 in low light.

Try setting it to ISO 100 and see if that helps.

You can still select auto, but its related to either shutter or aperture priority in relation to the set film speed ( now ISO 100)

Polaroid i1035: Bad quality pictures, appear grainy and fuzzy

The grainy effect has to do do with the ISO setting, try adjusting that. A higher ISO is generally better for darker conditions. I have noticed that this camera frequently takes grainy images.

Zooming with Olympus Stylus 820

Hey missy0528,
There are a few reasons your images might be grainy, one of which is your image quality is set to low. I would always have the camera set to the highest resolution possible, because you can always reduce the size of an image but you can never make it bigger. Another cause of grainy images in digital cameras is the sensitivity of the camera (ISO) is set to high. Since you are only seeing grainy images when you use the zoom the reason for the grainy images is most likely do to using the digital zoom. All a digital zoom does is crop the image much as you can do in some computer applications, and by doing this you greatly reduce your image quality. I would never use a digital zoom. Your camera has a 5x optical zoom and a 5.6x digital zoom. I would only use the optical zoom. I hope this helps!

Sincerely,
Allan
