Hey,

Its most likely the drive bay that comes out, check it for anything that might cause this, also if there is something inside the dvd drive that may couse this.

Thanks,

This can be cause by a dirty lens of your player, so try to run a DVD/CD cleaner and that should take care of it...

Hope that helps.........

Xbox 360 scratches the game disks

Hi there,

This is a hardware problem in older generations of the Xbox 360. What most people seem to believe is that the 360 should stand vertically, but do this and you will be covering the vents which let your 360 breathe. This is why you will see a lot of people bringing up the red ring of death, or people who have had their 360 scratch their DVDs.

My suggestion is to set your 360 horizontally. It's always worked for me and I haven't had a single thing go wrong with my 360.

Xbox360 seems to be scratching discs

Laser burn, looks like complete or partial circular scratches around your disc, also known as “the ring of death”. This occurs to discs when the games console has been moved whilst playing, from an upright to a horizontal position or vice versa or simply knocked against or the wires may have been just tripped upon. Discs are then impaired by a ring of laser burn, which is a circular scratch into the disc. Some home remedies may help with very light scratches on some discs but professional disc repair services is normally rerquired to restore disc laser burn damage back to "As Good As New Condition".

For further help on Xbox & Xbox 360 laser burn disc repairs or to get discs professionally repaired, visit:

www.discREPAIR.ie

You can send your discs off to this Disc Repair Service and the discs shall be sent back as good as new.

If this is happening consistently without any knocks or movement of the console, I would contact Microsoft for advice on your games console.

Xbox 360 plays dvd but not games

You may have noticed that all 360 games have a shiny silver colour on the back, if it is a different colour of has some kind of print/scratch on the back of it you should look into a scratch removal kit. Generally if the game is playing up even without a scratch you should get your money back as it obviously won't work, respond back of where you got your dvd's as they may be higher quality than your games.

DVD freezes when playing on a Sony SLV D300P DVD/VCR

That particular unit is very sensitive to scratched or dirty disks. Remove the disk and make sure there are no finger prints, peanut butter & jelly, or popcorn butter stains on the back side. If there is, gently wash the disk under warm water with a DROP of mild dish detergent, being careful not to scratch the surface. Rinse the disk well and dry with a soft, lint free cloth (like an old cotton t-shirt) again being careful to avoid scratching the disk. Replace the disk and play.

If the disk is scratched, there is little hope of fixing the scratch so the unit can read it.....

How do i fix scratches on my xbox 360 disk

get Brasso. It is a metal polish but it works great for restoring CDs and DVDs. I got a Madden game that was scratched to hell and wouldn't even get recognized by my PS3 and used it and it worked great. I've fixed DVDs and never had a problem. Just put some on a rag and rub it on the disk with light to medium pressure until you see the scratches disappearing. Make sure to clean the disk and polish it with a clean rag afterwards. I hope this helps and good luck!

DVD's not playing

Sounds like the lazer/ lens damage. Try looking at the lens with a magnifiying glass, to see if you can see a chip/scratch.
The Sony UK website has a list of part supply places.

DVD skips or freezes when playing and not related to a scratched or dirty DVD

I think that this is the laser unit as I have three of these units and I have swapped everything but the laser unit.
