Hi, I bought my Frigidaire refridgerator in June 2002. Within a year the compressor had to be changed. In November 2009 the compressor died again. A new one was put in. Last week it quit again. The appliance mechanic didn't want to repair it. He claims the fault is in the fabrication line causing the problem to the compressor. Ten years 3 compressors, what do I do know?

Who is performing this service ? The line he is referring to is the liquid (capillary tube) suction line which is welded together for proper heat exchange. If that is the case then this should be addressed by the manufacturer. Was the system properly evacuated and a new drier installed ?
Was the condenser clean ? The newer refrigerants along with overheated systems cause any moisture in the system to release salt which mixes with compressor oil. This sludge clogs up the capillary tube stopping refrigerant flow.

Can a 2016 frigidaire profile located in a garage in New York be kept on when the outside temps in the garage where located gets in the low 30's

There is some truth to it. Refrigerant needs to flow from high pressure to low pressure, and refrigerant pressure is directly proportional to temperature. Once the temperature drops below 40*F, for the outdoor coil, refrigeration efficiency is lost. Some heatpump units need auxiliary heat because.
Cold refrigerant condenses, into a liquid, and a compressor will not compress liquid, why its valves and internals would chatter into pieces. There is such thing as compressor crank case heaters, or belly band heaters. A heater removes, evaporates liquid refrigerant from within a compressor, it is protection.

I would get a compressor heater, wraps around the compressor belly, near 50 watts, and can use a relay to switch off the heater when the compressor runs, or let the heater work continuously.

Compresser will not work and the unit, This unit was bought june of 2009

Hello Igordon1250,

I understand that your outside unit is not working. There are a few different things that can be going on that is not allowing the unit to come on. I need you to clarify a few things for me:
Model Number ?
Whole Unit not working or just the compressor?
Type of unit Regular or Heat Pump?

Please post back to this thread and I will be more than happy to help you with your issue.

Thank you for choosing FixYa.com

Not getting cold, staying around 48 - 50 F

Check the condenser coils. These are located at the rear, behind the panel. There should be frost all over the coils.
If not, and the frost is just on the first section then this indicates a slow refridgerant leak. I purchased mine in 2002 and it came with a 10 years parts and labour warranty on all parts of the refridgerant system. So hope you hung onto all your documents.

Frigidaire the refridgerator is not cold enough. It stays at 60 degrees, I don't know the model because it was torn off inside the fridge and the owner's manual did not come with the house when we bought...

Have one similar and found out the compressor goes out on them about a year and half after purchase. You can buy another compressor but the likely hood of it going out again is likely. Sorry but we bought bad fridges. Never again will I buy a Fridgidaire.
