Can I configure microsoft outlook 2007 to work with my yahoo e-mail if i'm connection through clearwire at home and I'm not on a network

Hi,

If you are not connected to the internet, you can only work offline, and for example, if you write an email it will not send until you do connect to the internet.

You can configure Outlook 2007 to work with Yahoo.

If you want to "POP" your Yahoo! Mail into your Outlook 2007 application, here's how:
  1. From the Tools menu, select "Account Settings." If you do not see "Account Settings," place your cursor over the two arrows at the bottom of the list to display more choices.
  2. On the Email tab, click New.
  3. Check the box next to the first option, "Microsoft Exchange, POP3, IMAP, or HTTP" and click Next.
  4. In the Your Name box, type your name as you'd like it to appear when you send a message.
  5. In the Email Address box, enter your Yahoo! Mail address (for example, "[email protected]").
  6. Check the box for "Manually configure server settings or additional server types" and click Next.
  7. Check the box next to the first option "Internet E-mail" and click Next.
  8. In the Server Information area, under "Account Type" select POP 3 from the pull-down menu.
  9. In the Incoming mail server field, enter: pop.mail.yahoo.com.sg
  10. In the Outgoing mail server (SMTP) field, enter: smtp.mail.yahoo.com.sg
  11. In the Login Information area, in the User Name field, enter your Yahoo! ID (your email address without the "@yahoo.com").
  12. In the Password box, enter your Yahoo! Mail password.
  13. Check "Remember Password" if you don't want Outlook to prompt you for your password each time you check your mail. Handy!
  14. Do not check the box labeled "Log on using Secure Password Authentication (SPA)."
  15. Click on the More Settings button.
  16. Click on the Outgoing Server tab and check the box next to "My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication."
  17. Click on the Advanced tab.
  18. Under "Incoming Server (POP3)", check the box next to "This server requires an encrypted connection (SSL)". The port number in the "Incoming Server (POP3)" field should automatically change from 110 to 995. If it doesn't, make sure the port number is set to 995.
  19. Under "Outgoing Server (SMTP)", check the box next to "This server requires an encrypted connection (SSL)". Enter port number "465" in the "Outgoing Server (SMTP)" field.
  20. If you'd like to keep a copy of your email messages on the Yahoo! Mail server, check the box next to "Leave a copy of messages on the server." If you want to delete your messages from the Yahoo! Mail server after viewing them in Outlook, don't check the box.
  21. Click the OK button.
  22. Click the Next button on the Email Account Wizard, then click Finished.
  23. Would you like your Yahoo! Mail inbox to be your primary inbox in Outlook 7? If so, click the Tools menu and select "Account Settings." If you don't see "Account Settings," place your cursor over the two arrows at the bottom of the list to display more choices.
  24. From the list, select the pop.yahoo account you've just added and click the Set as Default button.
  25. Click the Close button. You're done!
Troubleshooting instructions
If you followed the above configuration steps, you should be all set. However, if you cannot send or receive mail with your email client, try the following tips.
The Yahoo! Mail SMTP server requires authentication. Make sure you have enabled SMTP authentication. To turn this setting on, follow these steps:
  1. From the Tools menu, choose "Account Settings."
  2. Select the "E-mail" tab.
  3. Select your Yahoo! Mail account and click Change.
  4. Click on the "Outgoing Server" tab.
  5. Check the box next to "My Server Requires Authentication."
  6. Please make sure that "Log on using" is not checked.
  7. Click OK.
To control deletion of messages from the Yahoo! Mail server:
  1. From the Tools menu, select "Account Settings."
  2. Click on the "Email" tab.
  3. Select your Yahoo! Mail account and click Change.
  4. Click on the "Advanced" tab.
  5. Check "Leave a copy of messages on server" if you want to save your Yahoo! Mail messages on the Yahoo! Mail server as well as on your local computer. Please note that setting your email client to remove messages from the server will cause your messages to be deleted from the server. Once the messages are deleted, we are unable to retrieve them.
  6. Click OK.
  7. Close Microsoft Outlook and restart.
We strongly recommend that you enable SSL for both POP and SMTP, as detailed in the above instructions. This will ensure that your Yahoo! ID, password and email messages are transmitted securely between your mail client and the Yahoo! servers. However, if you choose to not use SSL for SMTP, your email client will likely default the SMTP port to 25. If your ISP blocks port 25 or if you're unable to send email, then you will need to use port 587 when sending via Yahoo!'s SMTP server. To make this change, please follow the directions below:
  1. From the "Tools" menu, select "Account Settings"
  2. Select your Yahoo! POP account and click on Change.
  3. Click on the "Advanced" tab.
  4. Click OK and Close.

Cannot get Yahoo to sync with Outlook with Windows 7.

How do I set up Yahoo! Sync?

1. Configure which applications to sync
- Yahoo! Sync synchronizes Yahoo!:
  • Address Book
  • Calendar
- Yahoo! Sync can sync one way or two way.
  • 2 – way, Changes you make to either Yahoo! calendar or Outlook Calendar will sync to the other side.
  • 1 – way : From Outlook to Yahoo!, Outlook will be your source of truth. Any changes you make in Outlook will be synced to Yahoo! but changes made in Yahoo! will not sync to Outlook.
  • 1 – way : From Yahoo! to Outlook, Yahoo! will be your source of truth. Any changes you make in Yahoo! will be synced to Outlook but changes made in Outlook will not sync to Yahoo!.
2. Configure how often Yahoo! Sync will synchronize changes

  • Automatic sync ensures that your data stays up-to-date between Outlook and Yahoo at all times. It also ensures that you have fewer opportunities for data conflict. We strongly suggest that you enable Automatic sync by selecting Yes, then clicking Next. 30 or 60 minutes is the recommended interval.
  • If the Manual Sync option is selected, Yahoo! Sync will only synchronize your data when you initiate it. Just click the orange Yahoo! Sync icon in the task bar at the bottom right of your screen and select “Sync Now”.
  • Even if automatic sync is enabled, you can manually initiate a sync whenever you like. Just click the orange Yahoo! Sync icon in the task bar at the bottom right of your screen and select “Sync Now”.
  • Click Next.
3. Yahoo ID and password
Before starting your very first sync, Yahoo! Sync will ask you for your Yahoo! username and password. Use the same username and password you would use when logging into other Yahoo! services. Remember that your username and password is case-sensitive. Enter your information carefully.
Outlook users: Outlook may be configured to ask for your username and password whenever Outlook is used. This step only applies to you if, when you open Outlook, you’re asked to enter a username and password. If this applies to you, enable auto-login on Outlook. Here’s how: go to the Windows “Control Panel” and double click “Mail”. Click “Show Profiles”. Select “Always use this profile” and select the profile you want to sync to.
Tip: Your username and password will be safely stored on your computer. We store your username and password in a secure format and will occasionally ask you to confirm the password for added security.
4. Finish
Once you click Finish, your first sync will automatically begin. You can tell when a sync is in progress because the orange icon in the bottom right corner of your computer will be spinning. If you have a lot of contact or calendar information the first sync can take a lot of time.

E-Mail Address: Type your Yahoo! Mail Plus email address (for example, [email protected]).

Account Type: Select POP3 from the pull-down menu.

      Incoming mail server: Type plus.pop.mail.yahoo.com.

Outgoing mail server (SMTP): Type smtp.mail.yahoo.com.

    • Next to Use the following type of encrypted connection, select SSL from the pull-down menu.

    • If you want to save your Yahoo! Mail messages on both the Yahoo! Mail server and on your computer, select the Leave a copy of messages on the server checkbox. If you want your messages to be deleted from the Yahoo! server after Outlook has downloaded them onto your computer, leave the box unchecked.

Note: After your messages are deleted from the server, we cannot retrieve them.
  9. Click OK to close the Internet E-mail Settings dialog box.
  10. Click Next to continue. The Congratulations screen appears.
  11. Click Finish to close the Add New E-mail Account dialog box.
  12. Click Close to close the Account Settings dialog box.

Troubleshooting tips
If you still can’t send Yahoo! Mail from Outlook 2007, you might be accessing the Internet through an ISP that is blocking the SMTP port. If this is the case, try using port 587 when sending email via Yahoo!’s SMTP server. To make this change:
  1. From the Tools menu, select Account Settings. The Account Settings dialog box appears.
  2. Double-click your Yahoo! Mail Plus account. The Change E-mail Account dialog box appears.
  3. Click More Settings. The Internet E-mail Settings dialog box appears.
  4. Click the Advanced tab.
  5. In the Outgoing Server (SMTP) box, type 587.
  6. Click OK to close the Internet E-mail Settings dialog box.
  7. Click Next to continue. The Congratulations screen appears.
  8. Click Finish to close the Change E-mail Account dialog box.
  9. Click Close to close the Account Settings dialog box.

I can not send. The error says "The connection to the server was interupted" I can recieve fine

It seems that you configured your Yahoo e-mail account in an e-mail client (i.e. Outlook 2003/2007, Outlook Express).

You just need to change the Outgoing Mail Server port number. If it's set to 25, change it to 2525 or 587. And that should work. You should be able to send a mail after changing it.

Have a great day!

If you are using Microsoft office 2003, the process is just the same..
but, if you already have an existing email on your outlook and you want to modify it, go to tools, then email accounts (2003) or tools, option, mail setup, then email accounts, (2007), on the new window, double click the existing mail then supply again all the informations needed: name, email address, account name (must be the complete email address) incoming and outgoing then password. test if successful by sending an email to your own email address
