When I changed to compatible ink cartridge from original Epson ink, some letters would print blurry or smudged. I have since installed original Epson back and printing is still the same. I have run the head cleaning routine. Do I have ink clogging somewhere still? Should I use profressional head cleaning solution? Is it an alignment problem. At this time I wish to only print in black and have chosen that option. Can I run the alignment routine in black ink only and how? Thanks for your advice.
Epson uses pigmented ink and compatibles use dyes and thus if the paper is not of good quality then you can have this problem.
do the following
change the paper and try.
As there will be ink in the head and the ink feed tubes , print some 10 -15 copies of all color prints so that the original ink starts to get into the head and then the paper.
this should solve your problem
Also use your printer every 2 -3 days if you dont have any prints then give a noozle check and then switch off the printer. This will avoid the printer from doing a head clean very time you switch on the printer and also the ink will give you more output as there is less amount of head cleaning
bye
