On the drain valve there must be some dirt that does not let the valve close or the valve must be defective and needs to be replaced. By the way you did not mention the make of the washer.

The water level switch is activated either by a floater sensor or by a membrane sensor that detects water pressure/volume, depending on the model.

The problem is simple and easy to fix. Your washer has a tubing which runs from the base of the tub to the water pressure switch. It might have vibrated loose from the switch, or their can be some sediment in the tub. Blow out the tubing and reattach it securely to the switch and pump out the water in the tub.
