Hey this isn't for your exact model by it may still apply. Hope it helps!

"There is usually a metal bar that the cartridges slide back and forth on... over time, this bar can become "gunked up"... Use alchahol pads to clean up the bar, and the surrounding area.... Clean out as much of the track as you can also. Tada... .No more cartridge stall!!"

Cartridge stall lexmark z705

Please go through the following steps to identify and fix the problem you are experiencing:
  1. Open the printer cover.
  2. Remove the cartridges. Check the cartridge area for any foreign objects or debris blocking the cartridge carrier.
  3. Check behind the cartridge carrier for the encoder strip (transparent strip responsible for the movement of the carrier) and make sure it is seated and not loose in its place.
  4. Close the printer cover.
  5. Unplug / re-plug the printer into the power source to reset it.
  6. When the printer turns on, reinsert one cartridge first. Then close the printer cover.
  7. Check for any errors.
  8. If none, reinsert the other cartridge.
  9. Replace whichever cartridge is causing the error to appear. You may also try to insert a different known working cartridge to identify if it's a faulty cartridge issue.
  10. If cartridges are good and no error appears, try to print a document to verify that the problem is fixed.
If the problem continues, please contact Lexmark Technical Support Center for additional assistance.

Hi im having some problems my aunt just gave me her lexmark 1250 and the paper keeps jamming i think i have that fixed but now i go to print a test page to see if its working and all i get is a flashing...

The flashing power light could be to a faulty cartridge or the cartridge carrier has stalled. Follow the steps below to fix the problem:
  1. Open the printer cover.
  2. Ensure there is no jammed paper in the cartridge area and the cartridge carrier is free from any obstructions (any foreign objects or debris)
  3. Remove both cartridges from the printer.
  4. Close the printer cover.
  5. Unplug and replug the printer into the power source to reset it.
  6. When the printer turns on, re-insert 1 cartridge first. Close the printer cover.
  7. Check the light pattern on the power. If not blinking, open the printer cover and re-insert the other cartridge.
  8. Replace whichever cartridge is causing the power light to blink.
Hope this information has been helpful.

  1. First count the number of times the light on the front of your printer flashes.
  2. Then refer to the table below for information about the error condition and recommended recovery procedures.

Number of Flashes Error Condition Error Recovery 2 Carrier Stall:
The movement of the print cartridge carrier has been obstructed. Remove any objects blocking the carrier path.
    4 Print Incomplete:
The print cartridge carrier stopped in the middle of a print job due to obstruction. Remove any objects blocking the carrier path.
    12 Cartridge Short:
The printer has detected a short circuit in a cartridge.
    1. Turn the printer off.
    2. Open the front cover.
    3. Turn the printer back on.
    4. Remove the color cartridge.
    5. Close the cover. If there are no flashing lights, the color cartridge is short-circuited.
    6. Remove the black cartridge and then reinsert the color cartridge.
    7. If there is no error indicated by flashing lights, the black cartridge is short-circuited.
    8. If you continue to receive an error indicated by flashing lights, both cartridges are short-circuited.

Cartridge Stalls

hmmm...not too good on this one. Seems that maybe there's some paper jamming the runners or mechanism under the head carrier. Check that first, but be careful, since it's delicate under there
