You can download the manual for your item from this link: http://welcome.solutions.brother.com/BSC/public/files/dlf/doc002480/cv_mfc255w_usaeng_usr_lx1441001.pdf

You will need Adobe Reader to view the manual. If you don't have it already installed, you can download it from here http://get.adobe.com/reader

SOURCE: i already downloaded the drivers needed at

Hello,

It is possible that you have the wrong driver package.
Here is the link you need to download and install the MFC-255CW on Windows 7

http://welcome.solutions.brother.com/bsc/public/us/ca/en/dlf/dlf/000000/004000/dlf004002.html?reg=us&c=ca&lang=en&prod=mfc255cw_all&type2=1&os=92&flang=8&dlid=dlf004002

Make sure that you choose "save" to download the file; I recommend saving it to your desktop.

Once the download is finished, you will want to double click to run and decompress the file.

You should now have a folder called "mflpro_c1"
Open that folder and then open the folder corresponding to your printer (mfc-255CW)

Now you will see multiple folders with a setup dile at the bottom, run the setup.

If the printer is to be connected wireless, please make sur the wireless connection is completed before installing the software.

Thanks,

Pat

Visit this site for the drivers. You need the drivers to install on your computer. Just select which OS you have and download the drivers. When you plug your printer into your usb...it should ask for your installation files. Browse for these files and it should install it.

I cannot find the slot to replace ink cartridges! Brother LC61CL

Which Brother all-in-one printer or copier do you have? The LC61CL cartridges fit MFC-255CW, MFC-290C, MFC-295CN, MFC-490CW, MFC-495CW, MFC-5490CN, MFC-5890CN, MFC-5895CW, MFC-6490CW, MFC-790CW, MFC-795CW, MFC-990CW, MFC-J410w, MFC-J615W and the DCP-165C . The cartridges could fit other printers as well.

I know that the MFC_795CW has a cover on the right hand side that you need to open when the unit is on. Then the cartridge carrier will move to the ink changing area. (For a new printer, there is a green protector in place that you need to pull out. Keep this in case you move the printer later.) This location applies for the DCP-165C copier as well.

If the unit is on but the cartridge carrier does not move to the opening of the ink cartridge cover, then something may be blocking the carrier from moving. This could be a scrap of paper or other foreign object blocking the route.

Brother has the support for most of their printers available here: http://www.brother-usa.com/Support/ . There is a specific link for just the manuals on the page as well.

More complete trouble-shooting guides are available if you search for your model from the Brother search box at the top right hand corner of the page. Go to the product details page and then see the Brother Solution Center links on the right hand side of the page.

I hope this helps.

I can't print any documents my brother MFC-255CW says offline and I cant get it to work

I had the same problem, and couldn't find a solution anywhere. My laptop said the wifi Brother MFC-255CW printer was offline, when the printer was definitely online and connected.
In the end I simply went into Control Panel / Printers, selected the Brother printer, and deleted it off the network. Then I chose "Add a Printer" from the network, and reselected the only printer on my home network - which was the Brother MFC-255CW that I had just deleted. The computer reinstalled the driver, and everything was fine again - haven't had a problem since.

The machine is discontrinued, not worth repairing.

If you like this model you can look for the MFC-255CW on sale somewhere for cheaper then repairing.
