HO7 is a fault condition with the Panasonic DVD players - it indicates that the traverse unit (laser and spindle motor assembly all in one part) has failed or burned out. The motor within it is usually the first part to fail and replacement of this complete device by authorised service agents is not cheap - around $200AUD just for the part plus labour! Unfortunately, the motor itself is not replaceable on its own; it MUST be ordered as a complete assembly with the new laser as part of it - if you decide to go ahead and get it repaired.

Ours says DVD HO7 and the NO PLAY.

This error code means that the motor that spins the disc is faulty.(spindle motor). This may not be economically repairable, given the price of new units.

I have a Panasonic DVD player, model no: DVD-RV32, that is displaying the message "H07". What does this mean?

Here's the fix http://www.ledcar.com/pdvdh07/
I've replaced the motor once before on my 5 disk player to fix the HO7 error. The second time it appeared I tried the fix at the above link instead of going thru the hassel of the repair shop.

You may need to apply WD40 multiple times to cure the problem, depending on how stiff the rotation of the spindle feels. After the first application the player ran for about 5 minutes before the HO7 error reappeared. After the second application we watched an entire movie with no issues. we'll see how long this lasts. The fix was simple and hopefully wont have to be repeated soon.

Getting "HO7" when loading disc

After calling Panasonic, they suggested pressing the reverse skip (<<) button, the pause button and the open/close button all at the same time. The DVD player will then say "initialize." Turn off the player and unplug it for about 1-2 minutes. Plug it back in and turn on the player and load a disc. If the HO7 error code pops back up, you need to take it to a dealership for service. Or, at the price of DVD players these days, just get a new one - which is where I'm going right now.
