Why does my hp 7410 all in one ask me to remove and check color cartridge?

Yeah, as I am a victim to this very same problem, the other guys are right. The metal spring that is part of the ink carriage becomes a hole punch for the ribbon cable right behind the unit. Now you have a useless printer that you think has faulty ink cartridges, but in fact it's a faulty printer. Because of this design flaw, HP should compensate each and everyone of us, no matter how long ago the purchase of the printer was. I bought mine in 2006 for over $600 and for such a little thing that will break at some point, causes such a huge problem. It's caused by you putting the ink cartridges into the unit. You don't have to be aggressive with the install for the failure to occur, normal installs will cause the same affect. My suggestion to you my friend is to put it up for auction on eBay and use that money for a new printer. Gots me a HP OfficeJet Pro 8600 Plus that was 1/3 the cost of the 7410, with pretty much the same features and more!

The black ink cartridge has failed

It happens when that spring comes loose from the right side. When you get that hole, traces or wires in the ribbon cable are broken and you have to replace the entire carriage. Around $89.00

Reassembling the Hitachi NR 83A2 (S) magazine

The reason that you are having trouble re-assembling the ribbon spring is that you need three hands to complete the job. As you recall the nail pusher just slips into the front of the rails. The pusher has the spring and a pin to retain the spool in place. Install the spring with the bolt hole towards leaver and slip into the front of rails. Take a small paper clip and bend a small hook to catch the ribbon spring. Hook the springs bolt hole with the paper clip and hold the spring in the approximate position for bolt as you push the assembly into rails and use latch to hold. While holding spring with paperclip, insert bolt thru rails and spring into nosepiece. Just break off the paperclip at this point and you are almost done. Some nailers have a metal support clip that you would need to have in place on bolt before installing bolt thru spring. For a breakdown of the gun go to www.toolpartsdirect.com. The other bolt for rails has a support/guide for the safety foot. Good luck and email if you have questions.

The ink cartridge I replaced in my printer is not working.

I have one of these printers (7210-7310) with this same problem and this is what is wrong with it. There is a small wire spring that holds the ink cartridge in place in each cartridge holder. Remove the color cartridge and inspect the ribbon cable (it gray) inside the ink cartridge holder. There is a big problem with these HP printers where the spring pokes a hole the ribbon cable breaking one of the wires and rendering the printer useless. Poor design by HP, sorry.

Right cartridge is showing error. It says not in correct place

What model is your printer? You may actually have a hole in the board/ribbon behind where the ink goes in. This is caused by a spring that breaks loose and punctures that ribbon. You should be able to see it just by looking in the unit. Even if there is a dent it will make it defective and nothing you can fix. Only exchange from HP.

PRINTER ON/OFF

op the ink cartridge protective door located above the ink cartridges. remove both cartridges. look at the white ribbon cable that connects to each cartridge. You will see gold dotted connections. look closely for a small hole in the cable . This hole is caused by the spring that holds the cartrdges in. Sometimes people force the cartridge in puncturing this ribbon cable. It is a poor design by HP . The error code will usually say ink cartridge door not closed. Unfortunately the assembly is fairly difficult to replace and can cost as much as to printer. If you bought new cartridges, buy asimilar unit which uses the same cartridges. Then at least its not a total loss. Scrivitron
