Zd8000 wont boot up

My ZD8000 gets to the windows XP loading screen and gives me the old "blue screen of death" (a blue screen with an error message telling me to remove any newly connected hardware). I put in the XP recovery disk I got with my computer from the manufacturer but I am never given the option to boot from CD. If I use F10 to go into the setup when the computer starts I dont see any option to enable/disable the boot from cd option. I ran a hard drive test and it will fail a part of the test each time. Nothing is connected to my computer, not even a mouse. I am out of ideas, please help!

I tried booting in safe mode and got the same thing (blue screen of death), and i tried using the "directory services restore mode" on the boot options screen and also got a blue screen. when i try to boot to a command prompt it goes line by line until it gets to windows/system32/drivers/btkrnl.sys then it crashes back to the all too familiar blue screen.

Try to get into SAFE mode... tap F8 repeatedly when you first power on. You should get a safe mode boot menu, select last known good profile and press enter.

If this does not work reboot go into SAFE mode and select Safe Mode from menu and see if it will boot up.

You may get a pop up to use system restore, say yes, select restore to an earlier date (or similar) then use the calander to select a restore date that is PRIOR to the problem starting.

If this does not work boot to safe mode again and say NO (cancel) to use system restore and see if you can get to the desktop

Perform the following actions to prepare the computer for troubleshooting a startup problem.

Remove the battery and AC adapter from the notebook.

Remove any optical disks (CD or DVD), and disconnect any external devices or peripherals such as USB devices, printers, docking stations etc.

Plug the AC adapter directly into a functioning wall socket.

Press the Power button to turn on the computer.

    Another couple options to try

Reset BIOS to default or optimised settings

    1 turn it on
2 enter the BIOS (one of the function keys, usually F10,3 look carefully for something like load default or load optimised or load failsafe or load original configuration.
4 exit and save (usually F10)

In BIOS or the HP menu (if available) disable/turn off the bluetooth adaptor
