How do you get Windows 10 free update from Windows 8 to operate the screen saver?

How to customize Screensaver in Windows 10
RECOMMENDED: Click here to fix Windows errors and optimize system performance
There were times when computer monitors used to suffer from image burn-in issues caused by showing the same image for a long period of time and people used to install a screen saver to avoid the issue. The computer screens today no longer face the burn-in issues, but people still use the screen saver on their computer systems for fun's sake. Windows 10 comes with a six built-in screensavers. Let us see how you can customize screensavers in Windows 10.
Read: Are Screensavers necessary and still needed.
Screensaver Settings in Windows 10 You can get to your screen saver settings directly by typing 'Screen Saver' in the taskbar search box in the lower left corner of your system. Click on 'Change Screen Saver' and it will take you the Screen Saver settings right away where you can adjust the settings according to your own preferences.
Alternatively, right-click on your Windows 10 desktop, and select Personalize to open Personalization settings. Next click on Lock screen in the left pane.

Scroll down the Lock Screen settings and click on Screen Saver Settings. The following window will open. Here you can adjust the settings according to your preferences.

By default, Windows 10 offers the following six screensavers - 3D Text, Blank, Bubbles, Mystify, Photos and Ribbons - nothing new here. Select the screensaver from the drop-down menu and change its defaults Settings, if any are available.
For instance, the 3D Text screensaver lets you customize the text as well as a few other options.

The Photos screensaver lets you display your favorite photos as a screen saver.

Once you are done, click on save and exit.

Create Screen Saver Settings Shortcut

If you access the screensaver settings frequently, you can create its desktop shortcut as follows: However, it is easy to change the settings but if you change your screen saver often, it would be better to create a Screen Saver Settings shortcut on your desktop.
To create the shortcut, you have to right-click on your desktop and click on New > Shortcut.
Type control desk.cpl,,@screensaver in the location space in the wizard.
Click Next and give a name to your shortcut. Click Next and you are done. Give it a suitable icon of your choice.
Use this shortcut to change or adjust your screen saver settings whenever you want, quickly.
You can also create a shortcut to launch or change Screensaver state for a specific screensaver.

Screen Turn's on.You seen Acer load up Splash Screen for less then a min, Stay on until Windows Xp Load up screen then goes into sleep mode. Encontered same problem when I connected Xbox360 with HDMI to...

  • Hello chaleebradsh, the "Monitor" as well the Computer have "Power Saving Modes," [Sleep, ScreenSavers, and Hibernation]; so what you want to do is "Change the way the Computer / Monitor Sleeps!" From the Desktop Screen, click on the "Start Button," next in the [Start Search Window], type: power. In the next [window] that opens, you should see, from your point of view; a "list" in the (left column) "Change when the computer sleep, the wording may be different, but it will be clear enough. Now all you have to do is change the way the Computer and Monitor "Sleep, or Turn-off." If the Monitor have its own "settings;" just find them by the [button on the monitor], and do the same thing as above; but I'm sure the computer will take care of both. "I hope this information is of help; thanks for using FixYa, paul7of9"

Computer goes to sleep before it even starts up

Hi there, it appears as though the Power Options are set too short a time and the PC is going into sleep mode. Go to Start menu/Control Panel and look for Power options. Set them all to "never" This will prevent her PC from going into sleep mode. Good Luck.

When screen comes out of screensaver/sleep mode,

It's a bad LCD screen or bad video card. If its a laptop, try to hook an external monitor to the video port in the back and see if it has the same problem. If it is the same problem, then you know its the video card and not the monitor screen. If you have a desktop PC that has this problem, its most likely the video card. First try removing the monitor and trying it on another computer to see if the monitor is bad. If not, then remove and replace your video card and restart. If same problem, replace video card with a new one.

My screen only displays after 4 /5 hrs

Try a different screensaver.

Also look in the display properties by simply right clicking the desktop and clicking properties.

Then locate power management.

the initial seems to be a bad screensaver judging by the 20 minutes, but the 4-5 hours seems to be a sleep mode that bypasses the screensaver issue.

My HP Pavillion laptop just started this. I will get up from using the laptop, and when I come back the screen is black and won't come back. Moving the mouse won't bring it back. HELP!

Remove screensaver and sleep settings. And wait for the same duration. It is goes blank and locks up, report again. Else it is a problem with the screen saver. Change the screensaver and try again

Have you checked your screensaver settings? Or the Power-Saver Timeout options?

To do this, Right Click on the desktop and go to Properties, then go into the ScreenSaver tab. check your settings here, then go into the Power Management tab and check your Display power-off options.

This should fix you right up! :)
