Have a sylvania net book says connected to wireless network but keep getting can not conect to server dns error on internet explorer reset router says it is conected but keep geting dns error i am using...

The router most likely set to only allow broadcast to G/N cards only. Although you have the proper key in the netbook if its a B card the router will not allow it to talk. Go in the routers back-web setting menu on the pc you can get online with. Most routers unless changed you will type 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.2.1 in your internet browser. It will bring up a box that ask for user name and password. User name generally admin password generally password from factory sometimes linksys will use linksys as the user however look that up on there website. Once you are in there go to your wireless settings and set it to "neighbor friendly B/G/N" click save then get out and try your netbook again. If this does not work go back in there again and drop your wireless encryption to WEP128 you will need change the wireless key when you do this just your cell number as the key no spaces 5551234567 like that

Cant connect my Asus eec pc 1001px net book to a wireless network. Window says were connected but wont connect

In this case, "connected" means that it can "talk" to the wireless router.

But, it does not mean that you have "authenticated" to the router, by entering an SSID and a password.

I have a similar problem when connecting to a new network with my laptop sometimes.
I would try two things:
-Restart your netbook and see if it will connect, sometimes that's all it needs
-"Reset" your wireless router. This does NOT mean hit the reset button to get rid of all settings, instead, just unplug it for ten seconds and plug it back in.

Can not connect to internet

People often get confused about how to connect their netbooks (or laptops) to the internet. It's the same for cheap netbooks or expensive netbooks - you can connect pretty much all netbooks to the internet in four ways.... And it's really easy once you get past the jargon.
1 - Wired netbook connection using your home ISP
The first way, and one I use a lot, is just plug your netbook into your router at home, using the netbook's Ethernet port and the cable supplied with your router.
This way works every time, gives a fast and secure connection, but means that you need to use your netbook within cable distance of your router. Any internet usage will be part of your normal broadband usage with your home ISP, but isn't the point of netbooks that you can be mobile with them? Who wants to have nice new netbooks tied up by a cable?

2 - Wireless netbook connection using your home ISP
Another way to get online with netbooks if you're at home is to connect wirelessly to your home router.
It's a very easy process - just turn the netbook on and it will seek out your router. You get a fast connection, good security (if you tell your router to use WPA encryption) and it will usually work anywhere in your house or garden. Several netbooks, laptops or other computers can use your internet connection this way from the same router, so your family and friends can use their netbooks at the same time.
3 - wifi netbook connection out and about

A really cheap way to get online when you're out and about is wifi. Many busy locations - pubs, hotels, shopping malls - have "wifi hotspots" which are simply powerful wireless routers that you can use to connect your netbooks wirelessly to the net.
Some are free and can be used by any computers that are nearby. Others are owned by telecomms operators like BT Openzone or mycloud and you need to pay to use them. Monthly subscriptions or pay as you go are available. So are these free and cheap choices ideal for using with cheap netboks?
For anything other than general browsing on netbooks, beware of wifi. The free ones have no security at all, and the others have password protection, but the data you send and receive is not encrypted. This means anyone in the vicinity could snoop and listen in on what you were doing. I don't bother with wifi for this reason.
See our separate feature on wifi for more about this.
4 - Your 3G netbook connection - at home or away.

netbook dongle for 3G wireless internet

The final way to connect netbooks to the net - (and yes there are only four ways - I told you it was easy) is using the latest mobile phone network - 3G short for Third Generation. Just like a mobile phone, you can pay as you go or take out a monthly subscription with one of the phone companies to suit your needs. Then, using a little device like a USB stick called a USB modem, or a "dongle" plugged into your netbook, you can connect quickly and securely to the net in most of the UK and lots of places overseas. Some netbooks even have a slot to put your SIM card straight in
If you can use a mobile phone where you are, you can probably connect to the internet using 3G. Many people use 3G to connect netbooks to the net even at home and don't bother with a normal ISP.

Your pc could have a phone line input for built in modem DO NOT use that.
Use the lan inlet connector. When you connect the lan cable it should gain access at once.
Unless your connection is protected by a code.
If you have a wire less connection its probably protected with a code when you set the router up.
You have to enter the code to gain access to your network.

Here is a link that shows you how to repair the connection:

http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/networking/maintain/repair.mspx

And if you have wire less:

Good luck.

I recently purchased a wireless mobile netbook. I already have internet servide but I don't have a wireless modem. How can I hook up to my present internet service. Thanks in advanced. Rebecca

You need to connect your net book via a cable. The cable is called a cat5 cable and looks like a big phone jack connector. It is just like the one that hooks your computer to your wired network. The cable can be hooked to one of the outlets on your wired network. Then your netbook should detect your connection and hook up.

I bought the new sylvania 7" laptop. I am having problems.. We have connected to our wireless router however, we not get on the internet...

from another computer, go to the routers configuration screen and make sure the status shows that it is connected to the internet. Also the routers internal LanIP address must be 192.168.1.1 for the netbook to work.

Can not get on internet with note book don't know what code to enter

1. Yes, but you have either have to have access on the router or if it is a free connection you will have to scan for that router to gain access and click on the router that is open to you if you have a wireless card in the Sylvania G net book which should have a wireless card built into the mother board. It will take you to set up your net book for wireless connectivity.
2. If you are trying to get connection through wireless router via a home network the administrator will have to allow your net book to have access, that is he will have to give you permission to connect with either a MAC address or an IP ( internet Protocol address).
