I reinstalled windows xp and i go on to the internet explorer and it says the page cannot be displayed What can i do to fix it and i do not have internet

If NO Internet = NO Internet Service
You are perfect and I.E.8 is functioning properly.
Internet Browser ( I.E. 8.0 ) requires an active internet account and access to the internet. " Page Cannot Be Displayed " = no connection to the URL address in the address bar.

If you have active Internet Service =
Sounds like you have no connection to your router / modem
Confirm the following connections : LAN = network cable, or Telephone line, or Wireless network connection and password ?

Once connected to your Internet Service Provider
IF you're system is ( only ) " Auto-Updating " ?
Try this.. manually check for updates. When window opens, check for all types of updates ( default selection is " important ", "Recommended " etc )
Select the other ( optional ) choice. When the next window appears ...
on the left side default (1st choice ), Software (2nd choice ) Drivers / other (3rd choice) 2nd " Software " = contains "optional" network update drivers and software = after downloading and installing updates ... machine re-start will be required for completion ...
REPEAT PROCESS EACH OF THE THREE TYPES OF UPDATES
Windows would continually find additional auto updates after each optional installation ... additional optional updates will become available, as a result of auto updating adding more updates ...
( " Lather, Rinse Repeat " ) Repeat processes, until all updates ( auto, optional, drivers ) show "0" available.
The system will now be updated.
please excuse, if the exact word of the choice is not exact, XP has been replaced 3x over.
If you find this was helpful, please remark positively
