Not good - hopefully it is something really easy
you can get this error by having a USB device plugged into the machine - so if you have them plugged in remove usb memory sticks and USB phones.
If it is not this then the master boot record is corrupted and we need to perform a system restore. Let me know if this works if not we can go through the rest of the steps.

How do you remove the recovery partition in windows 7

To remove the partition, you can use a tool called GParted. GParted can be downloaded and booted to and you can remove the partition using that tool. I will warn you that this is an advanced tool and could potentially corrupt data. Backup important files before proceeding.

Also if you have an OEM Windows 7 disk, you can boot to that and install Windows from scratch. When it boots, it will give you option to change the partition table on the drive which means you can remove it. This process will completely wipe your system and the partition, leaving you with a clean windows install. Always backup important files before proceeding.

Also know that the recovery partition is put there for a reason! Manufacturers create recovery partitions to include factory restore files. If you wipe out the recovery partition and do not have backup factory recovery disks, you will have no way to restore your PC to factory specs. You can still restore it from an OEM windows disk, it just won't be loaded with the factory bloatware...which isn't necessarily a bad thing!

I have a KBT Neo-V MS-7032 V 1.0 motherboard that has problems booting from newer CD/DVDs. Some older CDs will boot such as the XP Pro installation disk. However, my Acronis backup restore disk and my...

Hi

Whether a CD will boot or not really decided by th emotherboard, it is decided by the basic control program called BIOS. BIOS works in a simple way by, if set to boot from a CD or DVD, checks whether the disk is bootable and, if so, boots from it.

First ensure that the discs you are using are all bootable.

Bootable Backup Restore and Partition Manager disks only work if data partitions already exist on the hard drive.

Bootable operating system discs can boot whether there is any data or partitions on the hard drive or not.

Partition Manager software can be used inside windows, to create, delete, resize and copy existing partitions. In other words, install and run the program from your Windows desktop.

Look here for guidance on creating bootable CDs

I hope this helps.

Do i press f10 on my pc to restor back to factory settings and if so ive tried this and it didnt work who can i wipe the pc back to original state.

Try CTRL F10 or ALT F10 or CTRL F11 or ALT F11. These are the typical keys used to get the hidden"Restore Partition" to boot to a menu that can help you backup, repair or restore to factory-delivered state. NOTE, restoring to a Factory Delivered State will WIPE OUT ALL YOUR DATA AND ANY APPLICATIONS YOU HAVE INSTALLED SINCE YOU GOT THE COMPUTER. THIS MAY include email in Outlook, Outlook Express, other non-web based email programs.
Also, not all computers come with the hidden restore partition, and you may have to find your collection of factory D's to do this.

Can you please give me step by step insturctions on how to totally wipe my hardrive on my dell latitude 600? Then I will refoat it back to its orignal settings. thank You

Unless you're donating the drive, there's no need to do anything before re-installing the OS. When Windows asks where you want to install the OS to, you'll see an option for formatting the drive first.
If you are donating it and are worried about someone recovering the data (after formatting and re-installing, it's not something the average tech can do) I'd recommend booting the laptop off CD/USB drive with this image (http://www.ultimatebootcd.com/) and running one of the Hard Disk Wiping utilities. Mind you, some of the very thorough ones (military-grade) can take DAYS.

I need to restore my Acer T690 to factory setting. The acer had problem booting so I used windows XP bootable disc and it had replaced the operating system. I have recovered my data. Now I need to restore...

Assuming the Recovery Partition hasn't been disturbed, boot the machine and press ALT + F10 at the same time. You will enter a recovery phase that will give you the option of restoring to factory settings. If the Recovery Partition HAS been either disturbed or wiped out, you will not be able to restore to Factory Settings without a set of disks from Acer.

When i turn on my Acer Aspire One D255 it says: "check cable connection! PXE-M0F: Exiting Intel PXE ROM. No bootable device -- insert boot disk and press any key"

The PXE ROM is part of your system's network interface controller. It is being entered on your system's startup to look for a bootable image on a physical network connection and if found, to boot from that image. If there is no network cable connection to your system or if there is but no bootable device is found on that connection, the result is the error message that you got. As to why your system is entering the PXE ROM can be explained by looking at your system's Setup Utility,,,

Press F2 while powering up to enter the Setup Utility and use the cursor control keys to go to the Boot tab which then shows the Boot priority order. The default order is as follows...
1. IDE0
2. IDE1
3. USB FDD
4. USB HDD
5. Network Boot : LEGACY PCI DEVICE
6. USB CDROM
Your system's internal hard disk drive should be listed beside IDE0 and it will be accessed first to look for a boot record. If the drive fails to boot, the next devices in the list will be accessed accordingly until either a bootable device is found or the last item which is USB CDROM. If a USB CDROM is plugged in on one of the system's USB ports, it will be checked for a bootable record and if not found or no CDROM is plugged in, then the system displays the last part of the message -- insert boot disk and press any key.

Press F12 while powering up enters the Boot Menu which has the Boot Option Menu. This menu should show by default the following...
1. IDE 0: (the name/type information for your system's internal hard disk drive
2. Network Boot: LEGACY PCI DEVICE

If there is no hard disk drive information shown beside IDE 0, then the possibilities are that
1. there is no internal hard drive present
2. there is a hard drive but it has failed
If there is hard disk drive information and pressing enter to select it does not result in an operating system startup, then the drive's startup partition has been wiped and so it has no bootable image.

If there seems to be an internal hard drive present but it has no bootable image, you may attempt recovery from the installation images in the hidden partition. The recovery allows restoration of...
1. operating system to factory defaults
2. applications (selectable)
3. drivers (selectable)

Press Alt and F10 keys together while powering up and the Acer logo is showing to enter Acer's eRecovery Management. Follow the instructions to do the recovery.

Drives - size

Resizing partitions is easy with the right tools, and near impossible without them. You will want to first
get a good hard disk imaging program along with an external hard drive (some drives come with imaging software bundled with the drive) a few examples would be Norton Ghost, Acronis True Image, Dantz Retrospect, Powerquest Drive Image and so on. There are even some good freeware and Open Source alternatives. By imaging your c: drive to a USB external drive you can safely edit your hard drive partition tables and then put everything back with no reinstalling Windows or losing any data. You will need to have a bootable recovery CD on hand when it comes time to restore the image from the USB drive to your system drive. I would suggest that you first copy all files you want to keep from the d: e: and f: partitions to the c: partition, then image the c: partition by itself to external drive. Take note of the c: partition type I.E. FAT32 or NTFS. Make a bootable utility disk (Ultimate boot CD available from Filehippo.com for free) is one, an emergency boot floppy from Windows 98, ME, NT will work also. Boot with it and run FDISK to delete extended drive letters D E F and then their partitions and then delete the C: partition and finally create the C: partition with all available space and make it active. Replace the utility boot disk with the recovery boot cd, restart the computer and run the image recovery to restore everything back to your now 80gig system drive.
